Yup. I agree these two areas are/should be our priority to improve. I am no minors expert, so I cant say whether there is someone on the farm at either of these positions ready to step up to the majors. Id be interested in anyone's take on who is in the pipeline and what the outlook is.
Correa appears next up for SS maybe after Super 2 next season. Fontana may get a small opportunity before moving to 2B or utility man. LF has Santana and Tucker as options, but Santana is probably needs more seasoning. I'm thinking next season. Tucker, even though he just made it to AAA, is probably more ready and could be up later in the year. I could see one of these guys pushing Carter for DH ABs if they both do well.
He's more of a 2B. I thought he might give Altuve a run for his money, but Altuve has been able to maintain his batting average this year. Torreyes is one of the youngest in AAA with Santana.
Is it save to say then that our ML ready farmhands have already been promoted and that we shouldn't expect more help from that quarter until next year?
I agree with Folty. The Astros will make room for him. I hope they try Nitro in relief. I don't think there is room for him in the rotation.
That appeared to be a tricky ball to read. It had a possibility of being caught. Hard to fault him there.
Why not put Carter in left? While he is not a good outfielder, he is probably better than Tony Sipp and Porter doesn't hesitate to put Tony out there.
I think you just answered your own question... why doesn't he just put Tony Sipp out there?!?! Hell, with Feldman likely to only go 5, we may need him for multiple lefties over multiple innings.
