And Castro threatening to crack .200. It would be great if these guys actually pan out at the major league level.
So Jose Altuve has hit ridiculously well at every single level, is only 21 years old, and is batting .356 this year. Seems like the real deal, second baseman of the future type to me!
There's no doubt Altuve can hit, just needs to draw more walks, which he's been doing this year. Its really fun to watch this team again, especially after suffering through last season and the season before where it looked like the team straight up quit. By the way that call at first was bullsh!t. Norris had the runner beat.
Come on Stros. 1 more run it will be the most runs they have scored in a game since May 30th of last year.
Poor Bogey is 3-4 and still hasn't reached the Mendoza line. You know Lowrie is depressed that Mills gave him today off.
After last night's game, I believe the Astros have collectively outscored their opponents this season by roughly 7 runs.
And long-term fan favorite type. I went to the game yesterday, and though I was going for the Nationals this time (since they have a shot at making the playoffs), I was really impressed with the Astros. Jordan Schafer pretty much chased down everything hit out of the infield.
Close. 57-53, so four run differential. But they're definitely playing better than a 5-8 record. Most fun I've had watching the team in over five years.
2008 was fun until a certain hurricane and a certain jackass making the team play a home game in Milwaukee, in which another jackass threw a no-hitter.
It was, but that team massively overachieved and was quite lucky. Despite going 86-75, they were outscored by 31 runs (712-743) and had a expected W/L of 77-84. Don't get me wrong, their run in August and early September was fun. But I couldn't shake the feeling while it was going on that it would delude Drayton and Ed Wade into thinking the team didn't need a complete rebuild to become a contender again, and that's exactly what happened. The 2008 offseason was the time a savvy organization would have traded the likes of Oswalt and Berkman, getting near-peak value and jump starting the much-needed development cycle. Instead, they treaded water for another 21 months, delaying the rebuild until July 2010 while letting Oswalt and Berkman's market value go significantly downhill. 2008 was a good year on the field, but it carried some major long-term consequences. That took away some of the enjoyment for me.
Yeah, I saw McTaggart tweet about it roughly an hour after I posted that. And you're right...most fun Astros team in some time.
