I agree wholeheartedly about not calling players out, but he set a precedent and has done it a number of times. To do it to some and not others can't make a happy clubhouse.
For all we know, he may continually call out/address Altuve in front of the whole team... which can be just as embarrassing, especially since I doubt Altuve pays much attention to media clippings or press conferences given the language barrier. I don't care how he handles it... but something has to give. This team makes too many mental mistakes that goes beyond their lack of "talent".
Yep. It's a shame they are wasting their good defense (jinx alert) and reasonably good starting pitching.
This is where baseball needs to fix the replay system. A manager should not be allowed to come out, stand next to the umpire, look back towards the dugout and wait to see if he should or shouldn't challenge.
This is the best they have looked all year at the plate. It would be nice to see Porter trot out the same lineup tomorrow night (another right hander). Perhaps just flop Gonzalez and Dominguez between 3B and DH. Only 4 Ks against Hernandez and they stung some of their outs.
Explain to me again why Fields pitched 1.1 innings in an 11-3 blowout which may have made him unavailable to pitch in a save situation the following day and Porter chose to go with a guy who had been sick and not pitched in 8 days? Same situation with Matt Albers?
