As always, no PBP in the thread. If you need that try one of the game cast sites. Keep discussion to this series. If it is not about this series it goes somewhere else. 8-25 Henry Sosa, RHP vs. Ryan Vogelsong, RHP 9:15 on FSH 8-26 J.A. Happ, LHP vs. Madison Bumgarner, LHP 9:15 on FSH 8-27 Brett Myers, RHP vs. TBA 8:05 on FSH 8-28 Bud Norris, RHP vs. Matt Cain, RHP 3:05 on FSH
After getting swept by their inter division rival The Rockies, wouldn't it just annoy them to no end if we took a second series? A split? Probably wont happen, but the Stros could find themselves having an influence on the division victors.
Back in the majors. They're limiting Lyles' innings from here on out...so he went to the pen in OKC for the rest of the month.
Got to love JD's approach, just doesn't swing unless it's his pitch. I really hope the change of scenery and lack of pressure will help Schafer become a legit leadoff man.
Good god...Schafer is giving me Steve Finley flashbacks. Same type of player Fins was early in his career. Fins was a highly regarded prospect who didn't begin to reach his potential until he got traded to Houston.
I know the Giants "O" has been a joke all season long but Sosa has done a really nice job on 3 days rest. Giants did get Beltran and Kepp back too, which at least makes it a bad MLB lineup.
Sosa definitely has some talent. He's looked good tonight. And it's nice to see Corporan throwing in the vicinity of the bag. Neither throw was great but Altuve and Barmes both made nice plays.
Well, that was lousy. Can't walk free-swinging, old man Cabrera on 4 pitches to start the inning. That could be a lousy way to give up the lead.
Pitched his way out of it excellently. Another off target throw from Paredes that Lee makes up for. I've seen about 5 of those in his brief time up w/out even watching every game.
I'm sorry but does anyone have any logical explanation for taking Sosa out of the game here especially for Michaels?
Glancing over his Paredes' minors numbers and having seen him a bit now, I think you can bank on CJ type walk-to-strikeout ratios from him throughout his career. I see him struggling mightily to ever be anywhere near league average in terms of getting on base for his position over significant periods of time. He'll have to make up for it with average and pop. His plate discipline will likely only improve marginally at best. He'll need to hit in the high .200s and for power to be a legit hitter at this level. Lots of tools, great athlete but there is at least one big question mark.
