Villar should be our current starting SS. He just turned 23, and has shown positives while flashing incredible tools.
Villar is an incredibly streaky offensive player. I'm actually glad that he isn't carrying his slump to the field.
Villar still young, obviously Correa future at ss, play Villar everyday and see if he develops Foltynewicz for the pen, or in rotation and Peacock to 8th inning
I'm fine with it for now, but I'm hoping Fontana gets a callup to OKC very soon, and if Villar hasn't improved any by August... pull the plug. Not that Fontana will be a world-beater, but he's likely a .340 or .350 OBP guy almost immediately, which would be an enormous upgrade over the SS black hole that we've had for 6+ weeks.
help me out: what's the latest on Springer ? On for Wednesday's game ? Go Astros: 2 weeks of George convinced me with the rest of the team, 500 after June 1st was in order, minimum. Then came Singleton. Oh yeah.
They said yesterday that he could pinch hit if need be, so I'm guessing he could be in the starting line up as early as tonight's game.
As soon as he found out he wasn't playing, he went and did some extra work in the cage. Additionally, Arizona is a pretty huge OF that requires him to cover more ground than he would for a home game. Lastly, he can always DH if needed (yay for the AL!)
