Wandy: "You guys stood me up last night... why are u cheating on me?"

Astros Offense: "You have that thing on your lip, and Nieve is younger, and has big ears..."

EDIT: Is Bill Hall corking his bat???

Alright Sheets isn't sick... and the Brew Crew might just play the best baseball in the world when they're faced with a deficit.

No lead is ever safe against the Brewers... they're just naive enough not to know when to just pack it in mentally, and stop hitting HR's.

Hell, they look BETTER at hitting HR's after they start trailing.

The big puma thinks he is fast... but he is not.

Maybe if Puma started running out of the box (instead of after rounding first), he'd get a few more doubles... ;)

DaDa- Not on in Austin. :(

Interesting outing for Nieve, hopefully he learned something from it. Effective in that he got through 7 innings on a fairly economical 101 pitches considering his 7 strikeouts, and only allowed 6 hits with no walks. Unfortunate that 3 of those hits were homers, (and another was a double). If he can cut down on the big flies, we may really have something.

I'll take the 7 innings, 4 runs though.

The great thing about Nieve and Buchholz is that they know how to throw strikes.

So many young pitchers come up to the big leagues, and either think their stuff is so great (so they continue to throw it down the middle), or they try to nibble at the corners to compensate for the better hitters (and they end up walking everybody). These guys are bringing it at the batters with quality pitches in the K zone... and while they've both given up the long ball a little bit (Buccholz gave up 2 in his first start, Nieve with 3 tonight)... they're only going to get better at keeping the ball down at all times, and that sort of pitching will be quality for this team for years to come.

Its a testament to the Astros farm system that these guys just look "ready" when they arrive on the big league level.

WBC Syndrome striking again? Wheels starting to loose the grip.

EDIT: Wheels was money... hopefully the syndrome is coming to an end, and Lidge can get it done in the 9th again.

Unlike hitters...people freak out when a pitcher struggles. I never understood that....Lidge is back!

Check it....save #9...puts him back atop the NL co-lead. Good win. Bring on the Cardinals. Roy O. tomorrow.

First 1-2-3 inning of the year for Lidge... hell, first 1-2-3 inning since before the NLCS.
