Jimmy is such an awful outfielder. I bet Altuve is praying that Paredes will no longer play right for this team.
Paredes needs to be demoted immediately. At this point, it's borderline insubordination. Twice in four days he crashes into a camped-out second baseman clearly calling for the ball? That's basic fundamentals. There is no excuse for not grasping this at the MLB level, particularly considering what happened with Altuve earlier this week. Combine that with his .242 OBP and .576 OPS, and I think Bo Porter has a perfect opportunity to make a statement. This isn't just youth. This is blatant carelessness, the likes of which I'd be stunned if I saw in a random Little League game. Porter needs to show that it won't be tolerated.
they are saying on mlb network that it was paredes' ball. that's kind of what i thought also, but you guys all slamming paredes gave me some doubt.
Elmore was camped out underneath it for multiple seconds, screaming and waving his arms the whole time. Pretty easy to adjust to, no matter where it is.
elmore was backtracking. and altuve wasn't even close to "camped-out". that was bad luck, just like when adam everett got trucked. that would have been a tough play for altuve, and a routine play for paredes.
Paredes is an awful defender wherever you put him. He has all the talent in the world, but is just so unrefined, careless, and raw. It is a shame.
He took a couple steps backward after clearly calling for the ball. That's just a minor adjustment. Paredes never even attempted to communicate. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/search/%23Astros">#Astros</a>' Bo Porter: "Our defense let us down tonight." Said it was Elmore's ball to catch. Shouldn't have been a collision.</p>— Brian T. bo porter's opinion isn't worth any more than harold reynolds' and whatever other analyst is on there right now. look where elmore ended up. almost in the middle of right field. reynolds said you take 4 or 5 steps back if you're the 2nd baseman, then it's no longer your ball. also said you have to be aware of personnel. if you know you have a right fielder with some speed behind you, it should make any questionable decisions like that even easier. and i'm really not sure how you can fault paredes at all for the altuve ball. if he sat around and didn't make a move for the ball and you watched the ball bounce out of altuve's glove, you'd be slamming paredes ten times more.
I played 2B for as long as I played baseball...when the OF is coming in...if he calls you off...you get out of the way. The player coming from behind and running up on it makes the call, particularly if you're still moving back. That's how I was taught to play the position and it's how I've taught kids to play it. I didn't have pros coaching me, though. And I have no idea if Paredes was screaming him off.
i'm sure he was attempting to scream him off....it doesn't matter though, because you can't hear or be expected to hear over the crowd at that point. instinct and baseball smarts need to take over.

Come on man watch the play, camped out underneath it for seconds?? If that is the case I don't know what the video posted here is of
