We just needed one game to clinch AL home field and Hinch decided to put the C line up out there with a starter who is in the middle of a epic landslode in performance. The team can rest when they lock up home field.
Time for bed. So many missed opportunities. Our unclutch hitting as of late does legit concern me. I know Tucker has been showing more promise with his bat, but the Golden Sombrero is concerning despite his homer. It was ruled an error on him at 1B. Still learning, not expecting him to be a Gold Glover or even a 120+ game starter at 1B, but being able to spot start/fill in is nice for position flex (as always). Stubbs is not really good, as much as I love him (and his family) personally. At least this game is over, still optimistic we can clinch the #1 seed. But, why Altuve and Gurriel didn't even get a pinch hit opportunity is beyond me. Nite nite y'all
Absolutely...you take victory when it's available. To have bullpen perform the way they did and throw Biagini out there and not use Altuve and Yuli is unfathomable.
He's a straight up stiff...good news is I don't think we'll have to see him and his 7.71 ERA again hopefully.
I think everyone seems to forget that Toro has some horrendous at bats tonight and left plenty of people on base. At least Straw got some hits and made contact tonight, giving him the edge over Toro for a roster spot in the playoffs.
Odds are that doesn't happen with Altuve, Yuli, or Yordan(beyond his lone at bat) in there. I don't necessarily have a problem with him resting guys. But you've got based loaded in the 8th, 11th, and 12th and a g-ddamn bullpen game coming up on Friday, it may not be the worst idea in the world to just play your best guys and secure the win. The Astros are still in the driver's seat, but there's more pressure on them now. If they lose to the Angels tonight(a distinct possibility with no actual starter going for them and the bullpen taxed) and the Yankees and Dodgers both win, then suddenly Verlander and Cole have to deliver or else we could blow home field.
last night was already planned with guys out. nobody was complaining knowing that before the game. they weren't going to win every single one of these last games. there's a much bigger picture that they're prepping for. the stros still had a multitude of opportunities to win last night with that lineup. unfortunately, nobody came him with the play get over that hump.
Actually, many called out the lineup before the game including me. It was a very stupid and maybe even arrogant move by Hinch.
