If that deal was ever a possibility you have to do it. As much as I love George and can't wait to see what Reed can do, the thought of Trout and Correa for years to come
wouldn't do it. Dealing Springer means you're not just adding Trout to the existing team. It's a great upgrade and all, but it's still just an upgrade at 1 position that's above average as it is. Losing 4 potential All Stars is too much...if 2 of the 4 hit, that would be a poor trade I think Gotta remember, Trout isn't cheap. He's not expensive either (relative to how great he is), but he's locked up at $145M over 6 years (through 2020). So to go back to the above, you're upgrading 1 position that's already above average...and you're paying a lot of money to do it. And then losing the majority of your upper tier minor league depth (that would be exactly the type of filler you want when your payroll starts rising)
I felt better about a deal like that before Keuchel decided to fall off a cliff. You can't win without top-line pitching... even if you have phenoms like Correa and Trout in your everyday lineup.
This is exactly how I feel If they wanted Reed, Musgrove, Feliz and Martes...fine, would give up a ton of high end prospects for the chance to ADD Trout to our big 3 But can't give up all of that talent just to swap our 3rd best player for Trout, while also spending money that would be needed to add another star type of player That 22 million would be better spent on adding a player to go with the big 3, and still have all of that young talent But if you could get it done without including Springer . . . . .
Has Kemp played since his triple? Couldn't remember if He's sat out both games since or played in the next one.
Doesn't make much sense for them to trade Trout for just prospects or young unproven players.... they'd need a player of Springer/Altuve caliber in return to go along with all those top prospects.
Yea i'm not saying it is a deal that will happen, I don't think they trade Trout regardless. And i'm not much of an Angels fan, so honestly I could care less what their return is I wouldn't move our top prospects in a deal to upgrade Springer to Trout though, if you would then that's cool, I wouldn't
You gotta admit... its a pretty significant upgrade... and he's younger. I agree they ain't trading him.
