Wasn't there a poster here who went on and on saying they were the one team we should be worried about?
It was before and around the trade deadline… when the Angels may have actually won a series or two and had already traded for some guys. I pointed out that the Mariners were actually selling, seeming to be the right move. Ironic that their seasons have gone in virtually opposite directions. Seattle basically regressing to the norm as is their solid pitching and a lineup that was underperforming, now less so. Will see if the trades of their bullpen guys impacts them negatively in the stretch run.
Sweep there it is. W,W,W. (Urquidy gets 'extended'. It backfires. Angels Score 10 runs in the 7th inning but the Stros win it 14-10)
It isn't going to happen, but it would be more fun tonight if Diaz started at C and Meyers and McCormick started in CF and in LF.
Maybe Maldy will draw a walk or get HBP. Maybe he can bunt runners over. Other then that it looks pretty hopeless for him.
That should be the lineup 4 out of every 5 games, but it will never happen. Diaz will get at most 2 starts at catcher every five games. I predict Diaz will play 3 out of every five the rest of the year unless there is an injury or Brown actually steps in (highly unlikely).
Stats from 1998: https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=johnsra05&year=1998&t=p Scroll down to the two ballpark sections. Pretty impressive. Here is his career: https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=johnsra05&year=Career&t=p It has the Astrodome and Minute Maid separated, but a little math can be used to find his overall performance in Houston.
We need to find ways to keep winning. In the loss column, we are closer to 3rd place Seattle than we are to 1st place Rangers.
