just a friendly reminder that the Astros could've drafted Trout in 2009. They took Jiovanni Mier instead. (and yes, I know, 20 something other clubs passed on him too! )
HS guys in the Northeast have never been scouted as heavily as in other parts of the country. They play abbreviated seasons due to weather, and the general competition is viewed as inferior. Although with the prevalence of select/travel squads and showcases (which Trout was involved in, and performed very well), there's really no excuse anymore.
Lineup tonight vs the lefty: 1. Jose Altuve (R) 2B 2. Robbie Grossman (S) LF 3. George Springer (R) RF 4. Evan Gattis (R) DH 5. Jed Lowrie (S) SS 6. Chris Carter (R) 1B 7. Jonathan Villar (S) 3B 8. Hank Conger (S) C 9. Jake Marisnick (R) CF
hmmm not loving substituting Castro, Rasmus and Valbuena--all 3 solid bats IMO..so I guess officially Rasmus is in a platoon situation? I though $8M would warrant him playing everday but I believe he has now sat against lefties in every game. I'd like to see him get going even if it means hitting against lefties
And they continue to have won every game started by Kuechel and McHugh! (and unfortunately have lost the rest...)
