The thing is I align more closely with Warren too, but I think she is one of the worst, if not the worst matchup left in the race for Trump. There's such a huge number of hard and soft factors that go into this calculus. Do you agree on policy? (end goals, strategy, direction of the party, etc) Do you trust this person? (integrity and consistency, judgement towards unforeseen issues, etc) Do you think they can win? (matchup vs. Trump, ability to inspire down-ballot, etc) Those are really the big 3 buckets, and at present I find no one filling up all 3 of them sufficiently for me. There's still time for the viable field to make a stronger play for the Yang constituency though, so we'll see how it goes. Yang has stated publicly that he will support and advocate for the eventual nominee, but other than that, as far as the primary goes, he has indicated that his endorsement is contingent on UBI adoption, otherwise it's vote your conscience all the way. He doesn't have any illusions about his supporters in that he knows they are extremely diverse and are going chart their own paths post-campaign, but it stands to reason that 90%+ of his constituency would support a UBI backing candidate without him even asking them to. I'm among that group.
They moreso ran out of votes than money. Fundraising was always punching above its weight. New Hampshire (open primary, historically unorthodox, Yang's adopted home state) was supposed to be the spark to lift the campaign from "also ran" to "contender". Once that flopped there was no legitimate path to a win. The campaign had to catch a gust of wind before Super Tuesday otherwise it was hopeless. I was really shocked Yang called it off though because I thought he was going to stay in the race as long as humanly possible in an effort to lift up his key issues, but when he pulled the plug what he said made sense practically and morally. He didn't want to accept money and time from people if he had no shot at winning, which is a refreshing thing to hear a candidate say. And, strangely enough, this sudden exit has kind of put a bit of wind at the back of his movement. The post-mortem coverage of him and his campaign has been extremely positive. The Yang communities are actually growing, which is completely counter intuitive. The walls and defense mechanisms across the media and political world have come down drastically. As much as my lizard brain didn't understand it, I think he made a brilliant strategic decision to pivot immediately toward building the movement and focusing on the future. I really can't wait to see how the Yang Gang is going to affect change and participate in races in 2022+.
Moderate but not a moderate, if you can appreciate the difference. I'm not an ideologue, so maybe sometimes I look like a moderate. Honestly, I'll have one unorthodox belief or another that'll put my sideways with basically everybody, right or left. I'll occasionally bust out on the bbs with something totally outside our Overton Window, but usually I'll just argue reasonably within the confines of our conversation. But yeah, when I get the chance to vote for the socialist, I'll vote for the socialist.
Sanders Makes Last-Minute Appeal To Moderates By Reminding Them All His Policies Would End Up Being Watered Down To Their Positions Anyway
I wasn't particularly a supporter of Yang .... but I'd take him over Bernie , Warren , Biden , Bloomberg and maybe Pete .... Klobuchar would be my first choice.
Yang considering a run for Mayor of NYC https://nypost.com/2020/03/03/andrew-yang-is-considering-a-run-for-nyc-mayor-report-says/
Do it Yang. NYC Mayor or Cabinet position. I want to see him as president in 4-8 years. It'll be between him, Pete, maybe Klobuchar, and potentially Abrams.
Yang’s UBI sounds pretty good right about now. UBI sure beats bailing out the fracking industry. Maybe a stimulus package with a mini UBI of $500 a month for 6 months would prevent a recession?
Yang's UBI is THE WAY to improve a lot going wrong in this country. It is a far and away better solution than raising minimum wage (although both wouldn't be terrible), and it is something the country sorely needs. I hope that he is ready to come hard at the White House in 4-8 years. Quite honestly, I wish more people had paid attention to him. UBI and automation are going to be huge problems for this country in the near future. The guy was spot on in what he was talking about. The majority of constituents are just too daft to realize it.
both robotics and ubi would be awesome well, folks, we all need to take a month of vacation in your own home... Its tough, but go spend some quality time with family and remember how precious they all are while we activate the bare min essential robotic task force
