FWIW, I don't think this is a big issue for him. Ohio isn't until after Super-Tuesday. If he's not relevant by then, he's done regardless. If he is relevant and still in the mix, there will be a lot of media attention about him not being on the ballot which could actually help his campaign, and any results in Ohio will be discounted some. This isn't going to come down to delegates - someone will grab momentum and run away with it long before that - so the lack of Ohio delegates won't affect him.
Agree, and I'm an admitted Yang fan. His biggest problem is that his campaign will be ending soon, one way or another. I think he's had some impact already, however, and hopefully some other candidates run with some of his themes.
I thought the real indicator was if a candidate had an actual chance or was raising his chance to win. Now we know.
I too am a Yang fan, and I think that's the most his campaign can hope for at this point. Hopefully, some of his outside the box ideas can influence the other campaigns.
I'm disappointed in the Yang Gang. 24 hours and no one has posted the New Mexico poll that has him in 3rd place at 10%, ahead of both Warren and Pete! Why do New Mexicans like him so much? No idea, but apparently they do!
Gary Johnson was 3rd in NM at 9% in the 2016 presidential election. They apparently have a thing for libertarian and perhaps Yang's freedom principle is more popular there.
Yang just dropped out.... He had a great run and definitely brought a unique perspective to the conversation.
Damn , cant say I'm happy about this. Maybe he got a VP offer from one of the bigger candidates ... or maybe his message just didnt resonate with others like it did with me. Oh well, back to ignoring politics . Everyone else sounds like a politician, i dont trust them, and their policies wouldn't directly impact me like Yang's proposals. The democrats get no sympathy from me if they lose to trump again, this guy and his thought process seemed tailor made for a head to head matchup but he couldn't get enough support from traditional Dem voters.
On the one hand, I'm super bummed and upset. I think dropping out before Super Tuesday does a disservice to the country by not furthering the very important, forward-facing message of the campaign. On the other hand, I really admire Yang for sticking to his word; he really is a numbers guy. They saw the early returns in New Hampshire and knew it wasn't that tonight wasn't going to be the high water moment they were banking on to make a convention run feasible. That's some laser-like efficiency. The question becomes what's next. I think Yang will come out and endorse Bernie before it is all over. Normally this stuff is very delicate but Yang has no overwhelming desire to be VP or in someone's cabinet, so he is more free than most to do what he feels is right. Will be interesting to see where and if he lands somewhere in public life. I wouldn't blame him for avoiding it, but he's desperately needed.
Agree, I'm sad he's dropping out. I thought his message grows on you over time and i think his perspective is needed in the conversation. I just dont think his support base was big enough to give him the resources to compete with the other big campaigns at this point, that was made worse when 2 billionaires got in and the price of advertising went through the roof. In the end, from total obscurity to presidential nominee was a bridge too far. Too bad the democrats like political experience more than republicans because this guy totally would have beat trump. Idk if any of the others can do it.
I dont care that much. For me , the improvement of sanders, warren , pete, amy, or joe over trump is there ... dont get me wrong. But im not particularly inspired to get out and vote for them, much less try to convince others to. For me Yang >>>>> Trump and the others only get 1 or 2 ">'s" ... lol Things are going OK enough in my life, presidents dont normally inform policy as much as a given congressman/woman. Im way more in the middle than a dem or repulican , i dont like trump , but think he's maybe a C president , C- .
The path forward was a lot clearer before Bloomberg and Steyer parachuted in, especially Bloomberg. That's just an absurd amount of money to deal with that took up what little oxygen that was forming away. I have a lot of respect for Yang that he didn't stay in a microsecond longer than was necessary. The plan was literally always New Hampshire or bust and he stuck to that. I was kind of shocked they put as much effort into Iowa as they did, but that's just MMQB talking I guess.
I appreciate him sticking to his guns. This will probably rule out a Bernie endorsement but Warren might get desperate and reach for it.
