If it's anything like the Dome 13 years ago, there will be a lot of niner fans there (i'll be there)...but of course, that was around the time the oiler fans stopped showing up to the games
Wait I'm confused..are you saying that it's not an accomplishment? Benson went off against the Ravens and averaged almost 5 yards per carry against the Steelers. Whether you want to believe it or not, our rushing D is improving fast. We're like second in the NFL in the last 2 weeks at that.
And SF has won against Arizona, St Louis and Seattle...... (Bengals > Seahhawks, Arizona = Arizona, Oakland > St.Louis)
oakland and arizona....and yeah. cedric benson still sucks. whats so speical about the Ravens defense...theyve been giving up points all year...
never said SF was great. we cant beat anyone outside the nfc west (shouldve beaten the vikings though)...but the texans will have problems cuz they cant stop the run. im not buying good defensive efforts against oakland and arizona....cincinatti was good, but cedric benson sucks. he'll come down to earth.
i agree with everything you say except the Ced Benson part. He has been playing great since the middle of last year. But this is the game the Txans D. needs to show and prove that they can stop the run. Gore is a beast when healthy.
Really he does? Benson is third in the NFL in rushing yards. And the Ravens D was playing great through their first 4 games. They were allowing 59 rushing yards per game at the time, which was like number 1 in the NFL. Benson & Peterson have dropped them to 12th overall in rushing defense.
Lets clear some things up... Texans moved from 32nd(LAST) in the league in Rush D to 23rd in the league, in 3 weeks. thats a major improvement regardless of competition. When you are a prototypical "BAD" Rushing Defense, your bad regardless of competion. Okoye is being utilized for what he is, an athletic DT who isnt going to bust through the middle, but instead will sustain Centers and Gaurds and not let them move up the next level. Smith is moving inside and letting Barwin play the end, which gives us an athletic advantage over virtually ANY O-Line in the league. Not to mention that they are moving Cushings up the the line of scrimmage in a "4-3 Over" formation and he is not letting anything through his side. Our only concern (and we saw it on the TD run byu Benson last week) is over-pursuit of the play, and thats the nature of the scheme and the youth in our front 7, but it isnt anything close to as bad as what we saw the first 3 weeks. Also, you called McClain a moron, which kind of solidified my point by saying that "Beat Writers for any team are Moron/Homers." Which is the main reason why your arguement that "Gore looks great in practice" means nothing to me. And you bringing up the Oilers/49ers game in 1996 is quite funny, didnt we have something like 15,100 fans at that game, the lowest in Astrodome history. Its going to be a little different at Reliant, you see we actually play in a state of the art facility that lets you hear what 70k sound like on ground level, might not be used to that if your familiar with Candlestick or where-ever the Niners play. And on to your arguement, something about "Hope Schaub throws for 400 and 3 TDs." Your really not giving the man very much credit, he is typically good for about 4 TDs!
Benson is 3rd in the league in rushing and while the Ravens have been giving up points like you said, they hadn't given up 100+ rushing yards in over 30+ games.
The 49ers are coming off their bye. The Texans are 1-7 all time when playing a team coming off their bye, including the loss to Arizona a couple of weeks ago. I think the Texans will take control of this game early. I know the team has been up and down this season but I have a feeling we may have turned the corner. Texans 43 49ers 20 There's a good chance the roof will be open for the game. Mild temperatures and no rain are in the forecast for Sunday. I used to give the network TV announcing crew but it appears Castor27 has taken over that roll.
If the team that's played the last 3 halves of football shows up, we win rather comfortably. Their pass defense has been suspect all season long, and there have been rumblings about the large contract of Nate Clements. If our line can give Schaub time to throw like last week, then I think we can exploit their weak secondary. However, if we come out flat like we've done in all 3 home games so far, I can see this game turning into a smashmouth-style game with the Niners playing ball control with Gore. That would massively favor SF, and they could take the game, and we'd be left scratching our heads once again. The one thing I'm afraid of is them screen-passing us to death, and us not being able to contain the edges. I think with Pollard, Quin, Reeves, and Dunta rounding into form though, it's not as big of a worry as it was before. This is a statement game for the Texans. We won a big game at Cincy....now let's get that NEXT game that really gives some momentum to your season.
never said niner fans will outnumber texans fans. thats just ridiculous. im just sayin there will be a fair share of niner fans there. gore lookin good in drills came straight from Sings mouth before the falcons game. him sitting out was precautionary, and to give him the extra week cuz of the bye. it's possible coach could just be lying though. cedric benson sucks. you can have him. is he even a top 15 back in the league? i wont let a couple good games against bmore and green bay fool me.
you play who you play and they played well against the run the last few weeks. Oakland & Arizona is nothing to beat your chest over, but they did what they were suppose to do and stop them on the ground. No need to knock cedric, the guy's had a good year thus far and is playing well. I don't know why you have such an issue admitting that. He's been pretty consistent this year.
The Texans need 6 wins to have a winning season and have the Jags, Titans, Rams, Bills, Dolphins, and Seahawks left. They don't need to beat the 49ers to have a winning season.
