For my own curiosity, can someone post an actual article describing the budget process and how democrats or republicans made it worse? Seems like a lot of yelling over nothing. I dont even get what budget cuts have to do with SpaceX.
Really? The engineering that went into the capsule is not something that is cheap or easy to do. Private companies have developed rockets that are expendable launch vehicles for sometime. Those are nothing more than rockets that release a satellite into orbit. The Delta and Atlas rockets are based on 50 year old technology. So yes, the Falcon rocket system that SpaceX developed isn't that special but come on. That is hardly the same as developing a capsule that is capable of not only docking with the ISS (and the enormous engineering feat that goes into creating a vehicle capable of such a thing) but also returning to earth. (which no one but the Russians can do right now, the Europeans and Japanese have sent cargo to the ISS but those vehicles aren't capable of returning back to Earth) For that matter SpaceX isn't too far away from manned flight either. I would expect that in a few years as well.
Space exploration has been successfully launched by the private sector. SpaceX Follows Up Docking Success With Commercial Satellite Deal thanks Obama!
I was driving by NASA on 45 yesterday and saw a giant construction crane with a new building going up. Anybody know what it is?
They are constructing a building tall enough for Mr. Meowgi to jump off of now that NASA has some private competition.
Probably for the shuttle mockup that is coming in on Friday. http://www.space.com/15634-space-shuttle-replica-houston-june.html
It seems you don't really know what you are talking about but more importantly have no understanding of what the meaning was behind the post of mine you quoted. So good luck with all that.
I'm happy to admit I'm wrong if you would take the time to correct me. You seem to make sure that every post you make as abrasive and angry and substitute that for actual arguments. But its the internet so I guess you're supposed to just throw out angry one liners.
SpaceX's Dragon is the only one that allows for down-mass capability. It is demonstrating that right now. Currently, Dragon is being un-docked from Space Station. It is planned to land at coast off California at 10:44 am.
Only one what? North American Aviation brought down almost 1000 pounds of moon rocks and not just from low earth orbit but from 240K miles away. Speaking of the moon, Grumman freaking landed on it and camped out.
