It's wrong when Obama says something offensive to Special Olympic participants. I'm glad to see bigtexxx weigh in on this. Now he can admit that Bush making fun of mentally disabled wasn't good either. http://www.cuadp.org/bush.html
Well, Barack put his foot in it. A brain freeze on national TV. I'm sure he's kicking himself royally. It's an atypical remark and, while regrettable, he's apologized for it. He should have some Special Olympic bowlers come over to the White House and suffer through an a$$-kicking of epic proportions. Game over and so's the "controversy."

Deckard, this is one topic on which you and I will differ. If a "normal" talk show guest said something like that, it would be regrettable. When the leader of the Nation does it, it is problematic. The guy is supposed to set the tone for the country and has a duty to not say things like this. The President is supposed to know that everything he says is going to be hacked to pieces and analyzed. He has to be astute enough to not say things like this. When Bush said dumb things, he was rightfully called out on it. To say that Obama apologized and dismiss it is taking it pretty lightly. He deserves the same scrutiny as any other President.
I honestly think that he's getting the same scrutiny as Bush would have, maybe even more. Heck, it was "Breaking News" on CNN. This question is something that's hard to debate, but I wouldn't just assume that there is a double standard here.
