Just a small bone to pick but we need to stop equating venture capital with private equity.

They're not the same thing at all. Venture capital serves an important function in funding new businesses.

Mitt Romney mostly dealt with buying failing companies which isnt close to the same thing. Bain Capital did dabble with venture capital here and there but that was not really their bread and butter.

I've hoped that this wouldn't be the case, but it appears that the power is so solidly consolidated, in a tiny fraction of the population, that the only way to disperse it will be violence. I think we've passed the point where our democratic process can change any of this - now, the democratic process simply further empowers those who already hold power.

The most powerful people in our society are completely and thoroughly disconnected from the lives of the populace. They don't have the same worries we have, or the same hopes we have, or the same ethics that we have.

The only thing "good" to a person with that much power is more power.

you need a lesson in what VC vs. PE is. VC is just a form of private equity.

Where can we make an apology? Oh, I have one.

How about attacking Kerry's military record and questioning how many purple heart's he earned ...when bush was flying training missions safe and sound at home.

Sorry, the rules have changed. In America, we don't compare candidates ...we just attack.

Agree that attack is the goal, although with the Swifties, the attack stuck because there was something there. When Forbes Kerry goes to Vietnam, video tapes his tour, and then gets the heck out of Dodge as quick as he can on a technicality (literally 3 superficial "shrapnel" minor scrapes on his buttocks), then comes back to the US and accuses US soliders of atrocities... that obviously invites questions.

Again, Kerry took shrapnel, however minor ...which meant guns had been pointed at him.

Bush took no shrapnel ...Bush didn't just get out of dodge, he never went.

    ...that was the obvious question.

Ah, all of this John Forbes Kerry talk makes The_Conquistador nostalgic! Here is how Baracka Dukakka will NOT introduce himself at the convention:

    Hoist meet Petard:

"If [then-Obama communications director] Robert Gibbs started running a [independent political expenditure group] and I called Robert Gibbs and said, 'Stop running ads on my behalf,' are you suggesting I would have no influence over Robert Gibbs?"
-- Then Sen. Barack Obama, as quoted by Politico, in West Des Moines, Iowa in December of 2007 attacking opponent John Edwards for negative ads being run by an outside group run by a former Edwards aide.

Agreed I worded it poorly but what Mitt Romney and Bain did wasn't venture capital. Both are private equity but as it is commonly defined, Bain did stuff that is very different from traditional venture capital.
