He didn't say you did. Pretty sure the author has never sprained a hammy cause dude knows how to stretch.
The OP seems to be ignoring some of the stuff the Romney campaign has thrown out such as the situation in Libya which while not good is technically a somewhat fringe issue. For that matter the Romney campaign still has surrogates still arguing about Obama's school records. This election is super close and both campaigns are doing all that they can to win. I think it was inevitable given the economy that Obama's majority was going to shrink and this was going to be a base election all along. What perhaps was more surprising was how bad Romney did in August in September but this election is shaping up to be the one that I think most people thought it would be a in 2011.
It looks like winning campaigns do the same thing. That's exactly what Bush Sr. did with Dukakis. Bush Jr's winning 2004 campaign did it with John Kerry and even worse when they spread lies and invented what is now known as swiftboating. Oddly enough the campaigns that were losing in those instances (Dukakis and Kerry) didn't pull the tactics being mentioned in the article.
I'm afraid that I didn't have a chance to read his book "Grand New Party: How Republicans Can Win the Working Class and Save the American Dream". Sounds like a real page turner.

I take it that you have no objections to his excellent article and observations, only with him then. Amiright?
Losing campaigns have a certain feel to them: "Since April, after Mr. Romney became the presumptive nominee, Mr. Obama broadcast negative commercials 118,775 times compared with 56,128 times for positive commercials. "In the same time period, Mr. Romney ran negative spots 51,973 times and positive spots 11,921, according to an analysis from Kantar Media, which tracks political advertising. This does not include the Republican "super PAC" ads that are almost entirely attacks on the president." Hello, Etch-A-Sketch Mitt the Moderate! GOP releases attack ad of Joe Biden "Laughing at the Issues"
How can you say that? The Obama campaign has stepped up it's negative attacks. Even though he is winning in a lot of polls, he sure isn't acting like it. Romney gaming the press seems to be helping shape the current strategy of the Obama campaign, so I'd say it's helping him. It's certainly not hurting him...
It's an editorial piece, not a news article. As evidenced by the gigantic heading at the top of the page that says "The Opinion Pages."
