I don't see how you can compare Morey and Cuban.

Poor Cuban done screwed up the Mavericks. Just becuz you have money to burn doesn't mean you can buy it all. Unless you got Monta- he have it all. :(

Still can't believe where we are at. After years and years and years of fighting for 8th seeds and #14 picks!
While the Lakers, Mavs, Jazz are left scrounging for scraps. Feels Goodman!

Worth it though since they won a title. I would gladly go for a couple years of middling crap if it meant the championship.

    Curse my slow typing phone!

No they didn't stay on top of the heap for very long, howEVA (Stephen @ss Smith voice), going to the playoffs for 12 consecutive years is pretty damn good. I remember the bad playoff loss to the Sonics in 92' and then winning titles in 93 and 94. Then making the playoffs for 2-3 more years after that before bottoming out. The curve is just a little different.

I like Cuban but I'm glad the Mavs are sucking it. I hope they keep that up for a long time.

I never understood why they got rid of guys that got them a championship.

No need to compare the two, it all ends with Cuban pretending he didn't want Howard then quietly conceding defeat and hiring Morey's lackeys.

Look...you have to b e smarter than that. The mavs have a title from a few years ago. They also probably if it wasn't for the refs would have two titles. meanwhile the Rockets have no playoffs and a bunch of 1st round losses. How could anyone possibly think that is the better situation? Get back at me when the Rockets go to two title series in the next 5 years.

    How.Could.You!

I really hate Cuban and the Mavs, he's a whiny little b**** that was a jock of a team that couldn't get past the 1st rounder even with the best record in the NBA thru multiple seasons.

They finally got lucky and scored on Tyson Chandler the year we were supposed to trade for him (or maybe it was the year before) regardless, we would have had Chandler and they would still have no ring.

Besides all that they are the best franchise in the league. Sike.

Because with the exception of Chandler, every single one of those players were garbage within 12 months of winning that title.
Peja Stojakovic was out of the league within a year.

Jason Kidd was out of the league after one disastrous season in NY.

Jason Terry was a huge disappointment in his one season at Boston.

Caron Butler was a colossal joke with the Clippers.

Brendan Haywood was such a worthless garbage, when he was amnestied the only bid on him was a veteran's minimum salary.

DeShawn Stevenson and J.J. Barea became bench players for lottery teams.

Seriously... would it have been smart to hand those scrubs long term contracts? If Morey was in charge of that roster, he would have done the exact same thing. No way he'd hand 4-year contracts to a bunch of over-the-hill geezers whose market value were inflated by a championship ring.

Tyson Chandler was really the only mistake they made. All the other players they let go were garbage. If the Mavericks had re-signed all those players to long-term contracts, they would be in even worse position than they're in now.

They've been to the conference finals three times, the NBA Finals twice, and won the NBA Title once.

They had the best record in the NBA only once.

But saying Chandler was the ONLY mistake they made was the crux of the entire reason they fell. It was THE mistake, the ENTIRE mistake.

Those other guys, with the exception of maybe Barea, were not a big loss.
