This team isn't winning a championship with Martin as their best player. Melo is a superstar. Make the trade.

if this is true then hopefully we can sign him as soon as possible. it would be great to sign him quickly before someone else does. so do it Morey.

NBA officials reported this morning that Denver rebuffed the initial offer from New York. Said that they did not have the assets to acquire Melo. The only way they get him is if he signs as a free agent next summer. No way he leaves his extension money on the table. Money is the key here bub.

Would suck if you traded Martin for a 6 month rental on Anthony.

Refuse to sign an extension? Dude really just sounds like he doesn't want to come here.

Favors is pretty good. He could theoretically end up the top player from 2010 draft. And he's younger than Martin. Sounds like NJ is in front of Houston in terms of what Denver might want.

since this is coming from the NYTimes, maybe they are trying to create tension on our team.

unnamed executive is standard talk for just about any source that wouldn't really know.

The article said Martin would be the center piece of the trade meaning there would be other players going with him. Melo is not worth gutting our roster.

Melo is simply a better player than Martin. And he's healthier. Every time Martin makes a comment about getting back to his old form, I cringe.

Even if he is a rental, we can always trade him and get assets, picks, whatever back....can't we?!

I think this has been said a bunch of other times in a bunch of other ways, but if Melo goes to New York, those picks likely lose quite a bit of that potential. Of course, where he goes is subject to so many twists and turns there's no telling where it will really be.

I'm torn by all these discussions/decisions myself, but it's much easier to just let the organization make the moves (as if we have any say in it :p ) and then roll with the team we have. In ANY case, we will likely have a very good (potentially great) team in place this season.

NY can offer up a package of Anthony Randolph and Danilo Gallinari. Both decent players, but can't replace Melo.

Better team player according to what? What player has had more success with their team?. And Martin better at defense ???? LOL. Martin is a terrible defender while in the past 2 season, Melo has been well above average

I thought Morey said he wasn't going to trade Martin. He even went out of his way to tell Martin he wasn't going to be traded, so what gives? I really don't think this is a true source and just some random janitor.

    wow..

given the chances that the trade falls through, Daryl Morey messed this one up...

now, we're going to have one truly unmotivated Kevin Martin on the team..

if the trade goes through, good for Mr. Morey. but if it doesn't... man... i'd hate to see Kevin Martin's unmotivated plays on the court...
