I know it would never happen but it would be awesome if the Astros were allowed to take player off the Cardinals roster/minor league system who was drafted during the time frame of the hacking.

Problem with HOU receiving players/picks is that such a course of action indirecty "punishes" AL West teams. I expect a cash settlement betweeen 6-12MM going to HOU, and STL losing draft picks and/or pool money.

The latter, on its own, doesn't address HOU's damages. And the prior, on its own, is too lenient of a punishment.

why would that factor into though - couldn't you make the same argument that other AL west teams benefited by our system being compromised? imo other teams shouldn't factor into this at all.

Was that article really printed in the paper?? Did they really mix up the fact that it was the Astros who got hacked, and not the Cardinals??

I'm just reiterating what HOU's in house counsel told my class. Your stance makes sense in theory. Regardless, HOU's attorneys were firm in their stance that although they'd take picks or players in a heartbeat, it was simply not an option provided by the league, and the unfairness to every other MLB team was one reason why. They suggested that monetary damages is a likelier result, and that the two sides were arguing over exactly how much damage this whole fiasco has caused.

Don't draft picks have a generally accepted monetary value? If so then how is the Astros receiving cash (that could be used in FA, international overages, etc) less impactful to other teams than draft picks?

    Picks are #56 & #75 for 2017 draft.

$2M is owed to the Astros, not MLB

    Wow...

    I love the outcome

Yep, very solid. Not as heavy as some around the league wanted/expected, but I think it's fair

I was expecting up to $10M and loss of 2 first rounders, but I'm not going to complain about us getting draft picks. I don't think the Astros or Cardinals should complain about the outcome.

Still not buying that he acted alone, though.

What a light penalty and a cop out by Manfred. Two picks are good for the Stros though.
