According to the messenger, All-Star Kevin Love has not been offered an extension. .... You got that right; according to my source, if one isn’t submitted by Jan. 15, 10 days before the league deadline to enrich players in Love’s position (Russell Westbrook is another), then don’t bother.

Supposedly, the restricted free agent — back for season four in superior shape and with amplified area-code accuracy — then will refuse to re-sign this summer or, if things are prolonged, the one after.

    What stupid management.

He should have been offered the max the second the lockout was over.

The fact that they can mistreat a superstar player who actually wants to be there is disgusting.

It will definitely get done, otherwise the T-Wolves may as well shut down their franchise.

Is the max in free-agency lower than the extension?

You do realize it is the ROCKETS' default position never to give extensions, right?

In the end, Love will not give up the much, much bigger payday in Minnesota, especially if the Wolves designate him for the "30% max" amount. The new CBA makes it impossible for any other team to even approach the kind of money that Minnesota can offer.

I actually agree with this strategy. If Love gets hit by a bus the day after signing that extension, all of that money is owed to him or his family.

I don't mean to sound too cold about this, but the NBA is a business.

through 5 games hes averaging 25pts 15rebs. the most surprising thing is his 3pt shooting! he shoots 44% from 3 and averaging 2.2 3pt makes per game! fantasy monster!

To be fair, just because the Rockets don't give the likes of Brooks, Lowry, Landry, etc. extensions doesn't really say anything about their willingness to give one to someone like Love. Completely different situations.

Given how little free agents care for Minnesota as a destination, it would be quite risky for them to risk RFA. Because if Love gets pissed enough he just might decide to play out a qualifying offer to get to unrestricted FA market. If you want a similar situation, OKC gave Durant his max extension at the earliest opportunity. With some players, the risk a possible injury has to be balanced by the risk of the players not wishing to stay long term.

Kevin love is a dependable great all star game changer. He will get you 20-10 and is probably the no 2 guy on a championship team. Is he a franchise tag rose type of palyer though? I still see him as the no 2. I am thinking he wants that 30 percent kdurant/drose money, while Iwould give him max or close, but just not that final one. I dont think you build around him.

but if you are minnesota, hell you dont have a choice, no one else is coming there. better pay up
