Update -- sounds like the Nugs have a favorite and it's neither Ujiri or Sheppard. If it's the guy who I think it is, it's not a "name" GM, but it's someone who the die-hards have heard of before. Sounds like Kroenke's son is going to be taking over a lot more when it comes to running the franchise. I still have no info, but I still think Melo's gone.
What is the incentive of Denver trading Melo? I think they should just play the season out and deal with that when the time comes. I still think they will probably try to pry CP3 from the Hornets next season and convince Melo to stay. I could be wrong though, but I just don't see Melo in another uniform this upcoming season. He seems like he is comfortable in Denver and I my gut tells me he re-signs with them for the Max. The whole NY thing about him, CP3, and Amare forming their own "Big 3" is bogus. Amare is getting max dollars, the Knicks have no assets to trade for CP3, they are still having trouble getting rid of Curry and the list can go on and on. Plus, it doesn't help that supposedly Isaiah Thomas is supposedly running things behind closed doors while Walsh is just serving as a puppet to Dolan. I can see Morey making a run at him, but Denver will ask us to take back one of their bad contracts. I would be happy to take back Martin or Anderson, assuming that they are healthy.
I'd love to steal someone from you guys, but no. I don't think the guy they're looking at currently has a job.
