The source of the rumor that Pap is being waived is from Basketballinsiders formerly known as Hoopsworld.
He's not waived..yet. Denver was planning on waiting for the Eurobasket to see him, but he doesn't want to take so long becaue then he won't be able to find an nba team. And he wants to stay in the league and not go back to Europe where he can find many offers.
Pap is an NBA player. Unfortunately he got squeezed out here with the talent we have, but he wouldn't be in the bottom 50 players in the league. He belongs on someone's bench at least, playing decent mins. Hope it works out for him.
If Pap can start getting his jump shot to fall he could get good really quick. He does a lot of things well, but he was such a bad, and therefore unwilling, shooter that it affected everything else. He would often turn down an open shot to run into traffic.
what kind of offer will he get if he is waived? will he accept a 2yr minimum deal with team option in the 2nd year?
Please don't sign this certified grade A scrub again and pass it off as contract matching purposes. One of the worst players in the league. Good for nothing towel boy.
Scola was an above-average player as soon as he arrived as an elderly rookie - absent a rent in the fabric of space time, allowing him to kidnap his past self and replace it with a future less terrible at basketball version of himself - this growth curve is already unattainable.
Doubtful he'd accept the minimum because he'd still command more in Europe and would be given a big role on pretty much the team of his choice other than a select few like RealMadrid who are stacked. Wouldn't be shocked if Philly picked him up off of waivers even if he got waived. Even at the price of his contract. Not sure how many other teams have cap space left in order to pick him up if waived, or if anyone else has their BAE or a part of their MLE to offer him. However, if its vet min or nothing, he's going back to Europe. Its not really even based on his market here in the NBA. Its about his value on the market globally. People in the GARM really, really hate the guy for whatever reason, but don't let that fool you. He's a pretty well regarded player overseas, and teams will pay up to get him back over there.
I don't understand the hate for this guy. Even with his playing time cut and the trade, he's done nothing but act professional and do/say all of the right things. With the way people talk about him here, you would think he pulled a Parsons and trashed us once his Houston days were up.
Probably because I don't drink the Morey kool aid and over value every signing he has made and pass it off as some success. Yeah sure. LOL, the only people he made better was the guy guarding him and his defensive metrics through all the bricks Kostas put out there.
Not speaking for others but calling a scrub what he is (a scrub) is not hate. When a tanking lottery team like the Nuggets doesn't want you, you are indeed a scrub. You're neither useful for a playoff team nor for a tanking team.
There is a difference between not drinking the kool aid/ being objective and judging things realistically, and being over the top negative about EVERYTHING simply to push peoples buttons. In the internet world, I believe the kids refer to that as trolling. I'm not entertaining any kind of rational dialog with you because you've proven yourself time, and time again to be someone that has no interest whatsoever in constructive & objective human dialog. Have a good day, and take your sour attitude somewhere else.
I hope he sticks around the league this year and he's an option for us at the minimum next year. He's got talent...just needs time to catch up to this level of play.
He is banned if you use your ignore feature. I haven't seen a post from him since his rookie year and I am much happier and wiser for it!!
We are not living in a perfect world, so having a Donald Trump is still much better than living in North Korea. Banning people is actually a worse way to encourage rational dialog.
