23 year drought is threatening the water supply to multiple western states and Mexico. But Climate Change is not a big deal right? I mean, there's always bottled water.

Growing fears of 'dead pool' on Colorado River as drought threatens Hoover Dam water

The Colorado River's largest reservoirs stand nearly three-quarters empty, and federal officials now say there is a real danger the reservoirs could drop so low that water would no longer flow past Hoover Dam in two years.

That dire scenario — which would cut off water supplies to California, Arizona and Mexico — has taken center stage at the annual Colorado River conference in Las Vegas this week, where officials from seven states, water agencies, tribes and the federal government are negotiating over how to decrease usage on a scale never seen before.

Outlining their latest projections for Lake Powell and Lake Mead, the nation’s two largest reservoirs, federal water managers said there is a risk Lake Mead could reach “dead pool” levels in 2025. If that were to happen, water would no longer flow downstream from Hoover Dam.

pretty sure that "climate change" is the cause, eh?

If TSMCs 40B super foundry does well, why not put up other ultraultrapure water intensive plants around it and make a silicone canyon for the ages?

Subsidizing agricultural production in arid environments is just stupid.

Likewise, growing food to make fuel is just stupid.

The drought in the western U.S. could last until 2030
After a brutally hot and dry 2021, the region is now in the worst "megadrought" in 1,200 years. Climate change is to blame.

A new study in Nature Climate Change shows that Earth’s warming climate has made the western drought about 40 percent more severe, making it the region’s driest stretch since A.D. 800. And there’s a very strong chance the drought will continue through 2030.

Even absent climate change, there’s a very high chance the drought would last through 2023; in 94 percent of their simulations, it goes on through next year, and in 33 percent of their simulations it lasts all the way to 2030. But layer climate change’s added pressure on top and it’s suddenly much more likely the drought will continue at least through 2023: 94 percent of the time they saw it stretch that far. In 75 percent of the simulations, it went on until 2030.

The Colorado stopped flowing into the Sea of Cortez decades ago, and basically destroyed one of the most unique natural areas in North America.

I'm curious how much of the Colorado river water gets wasted in Vegas?

Disaster scenarios raise the stakes for Colorado River negotiations
At Colorado River conference in Las Vegas, water managers debate how to make historic cuts

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/2022/12/17/colorado-river-crisis-conference/

    excerpt:

State and federal authorities say that years of overconsumption are colliding with the stark realities of climate change, pushing Colorado River reservoirs to such dangerously low levels that the major dams on the river could soon become obstacles to delivering water to millions in the Southwest.

The federal government has called on the seven Western states that rely on Colorado River water to cut usage by 2 to 4 million acre-feet — up to a third of the river’s annual average flow — to try to avoid such dire outcomes. But the states have so far failed to reach a voluntary agreement on how to make that happen, and the Interior Department may impose unilateral cuts in coming months.
