This take is old already and it was never a good one. Luke wasn’t that great last year. Always injured and not the same player before the shoulder problems. Ariza is at the end of his career and wanted one more big pay day.

How is offering four picks (for a top 15 player) that most likely will be late first rounders that would most likely have been packaged for a good player anyway, A panic move?

We came in this season too damn high. We didn’t win jack $&@$ last year. And to come in thinking we where going to start the season just blowing out everybody is ridiculous. We are not the warriors...sorry....but we are not a two time defending champions with 5 all stars who have played together for years.

Expectations where too damn high for this team coming into the season. But the good news is it’s a very long season and it’s good to face some adversity very early into the season. If handled correctly which I know it will because of cp3 and harden and tucker this thing WILL get turned around.

Also I’m expecting the chances of a butler deal to be very high and he will fix a lot of the huge holes we have BOTH offensively and defensively. This is not a time to panic and point fingers because that can kill a team and locker room FAST. Trust me we do not want to be playing our best basketball in October or November.

"Not sure we'll ever be great defensively the way we are right now but we can be better than this."

    Fire those shots Mike! ;)

I don't really want to say it's all on the coaching staff, new players are definitely looking like a problem as today, Melo actually tries but he just sucks as a defender, MCW is basically Brewer (high energy but zero iq), Ennis looked decent at best...but still, i don't get how it's possible that by just swapping Ariza with Ennis (one starter) and Ryan with Melo (one bench player), a team that was basically the best defense in the playoffs (without Luc), suddenly turns out to be the worst defense in the NBA...that's just too much to be just on a couple of bench players...and anyway, who knows how much they're so bad cause they're simply ass or cause they just don't have a real coach for the defense. This is the question i have, cause we know how MDA sees defense, Roy was never a defensive coach so, i'm not sure why anyone should be shocked at the idea that without Jeff the new guys might not be coached in the right way. Again, maybe they just suck, no iq etc but, eh...

Paul’s defense has slipped. Clint looks pathetic compared to last season and Gordon sucks on both ends so there is your drop off homey

He didn't need to be great, but he was very solid depth despite that. If you look at the on/off, the team was +4 points on defense with him on the court and still very solid on offense. Luc has his limitations, but defensively, he can literally guard 1-4 because he has great defensive fundamentals and he stays so low to the ground and has excellent lateral quickness, so he can stay with guards too while being able to put up a good fight vs bigs. The Rockets whole defensive system was based on having players like that.

MCW doesn't have the defensive IQ, but also is just too thin to switch and be effective against bigger guys. Melo of course was not brought in for his defense, Ennis has been out for enough games, and he's okay on defense, but Luc is an elite overall defensive player and was so for the Clippers.

The quotes from the players show that they have not bought into the scheme like they did last year.

The quotes from MDA show that the coaching staff is totally clueless. So now MDA is going to engineer a defense.

So to recap, players aren't buying in and coaches don't know what the hell they're doing. Perfect.

I think y'all are over-reacting a bit. It's not like this is a dumpster fire.

This is more, like, a dumpster that is serenely floating on raging flood waters. And we are helplessly stuck in the dumpster, complaining in vain.
