Heard on local radio today that the North Carolina owner of the local eatery has abandoned the "practice" because she was threatened with a lawsuit from a Wisconsin-based civil rights group.

    Does that qualify as outrage?

No, it qualifies as a lawyer finding someone willing to pay for them to threaten a frivolous lawsuit.

Sounds like someone who doesn't really stand up for their beliefs.

By a select few assholes who sue for a living. Most atheists don't give a **** about this placed and are not even close to being outraged.

And who are this Wisconsin based group? How many members do they have? How much operating capital do they have to carry out a lawsuit?

    1. It's not frivolous if it is going to cost you money and time and you have a busy restaurant business to run.

    2. So now it is damned if they do and damned if they don't?

As long as they don't discriminate in whom gets the discount based on race, sex, religion, etc...I don't see any issue with this.

It is stupid. People are to quick to be offended. If they want to give discounts, then they should be able to.

    Having said that......

There are more important things to worry about, like the hundreds of thousands of your Arab brothers being killed in the Middle East.

Perhaps and probably but why are restaurant operators in NC and RI even having to think about this much less defend themselves from a special interest group a thousand miles away in another state?

Should they incur roaming charges or something? How on earth do you think segregation suits were litigated?

It's sad that you have no idea why it's a bad idea to give preferential treatment to certain customers based on specific religious activity. It's completely predictable, of course, given your usual level of perspicacity, but it is indeed sad.

What was the "specific" religious activity "required?"

I see you've caught on really well. You've chosen your side and you sandwich your comments with insults. I'd say you are taking your "instruction" very well!
