Already? My goodness the NL is awful (and the Brewers are one of the "good" teams). The AL = the big leagues. The NL = AAAA
I watched the 6th through 9th innings and he was pitching like Oswalt. Step on the mound and throw. His curve and changeup were sick tonight. I've got him in Fade's Clutch City baseball league, too. Excellent.
This may very well get "top billing" on tonight's sportscenter (and tommorow's news) over the NBA finals. That is sad
Slap a keg down at 3rd & a rover in the OF & you'd have a damn nice beer league game. I loathe the DH. AL ball is not baseball.
i'm with ya. not that you didn't know that. i love multiple pitching changes with no consequences. the absence of the double-switch. sad, because so many of the most historic teams and ballparks are in the AL. but watching those games feels so different from watching NL games.
As an aside, here's the breakdown of average AL/NL OPS by lineup position: 1: .750/.748 2: .751/.765 3: .821/.809 4: .834/.822 5: .789/.744 6: .753/.780 7: .745/.708 8: .646/.652 9: .684/.480 By field position: C: .719/.684 1: .805/.804 2: .761/.742 3: .758/.767 S: .710/.730 L: .723/.824 C: .740/.733 R: .802/.735 They are virtually identical. The offensive superiority of the AL is the result of a gimmick.
Look, I hate the DH... and I'll always prefer to watch NL baseball... but we're here talking about the DH in a thread that is about an AL pitcher thorwing a no-hitter against an NL team. My opinion that the best of the AL teams are stronger than the best of the NL teams takes pitching into account... pitching that is forced to go up against the gimmicky DH.
