Alabama has got to be one of the ̶w̶o̶r̶s̶t̶ most stressful jobs out there. Their expectations are sky-high after Saban's run and they'll run somebody out of town if they don't win the SEC by year two.

There aren’t many football coaches that wouldn’t want that job. Expectations are very high at most of those big football schools.

Smart move. He sees the NIL effect already. He can’t horde players anymore by offering 30 scholarships every year and, lets be honest, Alabamas NIL slush fund composed of car dealership owing alums ain’t got sh*t on the real big money donors from Ohio, Mich and oil barrons from Texas.

I agree it's one of the most prestigious jobs and coaches are competitive enough to want it. How long they last and handle expectations, though, is another question.

    Think they gauge Sark’s interest?

That's a doomsday scenario for us because I'd imagine Arch would follow him.

My first guess was Kalen DeBoer, but Lanning has SEC experience at Georgia.

Texas can match Alabama’s offer dollar for dollar x2. He ain’t leaving. Demeco ain’t leaving either. Kirby Smart ain’t leaving. Someone like Lane Kiffin is who they’ll get.

He just coached us to 12-2 and recruited the most sought-after QB prospect in years. Arch would surely follow him and we'd un-do all of the momentum we've established. I know Sark isn't a great coach, but we've been through enough resets over the last decade to know I don't want to do it again any time soon if we don't have to.

Tbh it feels like there's not much daylight between the jobs once you get into the top 40 or 50 programs. If you win a lot you're almost certainly going to get paid top flight money at any of them.

Maybe you get a little more clout or exposure at certain places, but if youre good at your job you can meet your maximum potential at pretty much any of those programs save for a few.

Of course with realignment trends it's going to be a lot harder to say that about anyone not in the B1G or SEC soon.

Dan Lanning would be the 3rd straight Oregon coach to be plucked away. Thing is, FSU did them a favor by taking Willie Taggart as did Miami for taking Mario Cristobal.

This one would definitely hurt, but things are set up very well for UO entering the B1G and fan expectations in Eugene are quite reasonable compared to Alabama.

I really don't think the job is all that attractive. The reason they've had so much success is because Bear Bryant and Nick Saban coached there, not because it was Alabama. During the years between the Bear and Saban, Alabama wasn't all that special and I don't think they will be going forward.
