I think players are more valuable than picks. If you think a guy can be a player then you make that move on him. Think about a team that would trade down before picking Watt...would it really be worth it? It's more worth it to draft that guy you think will be a player. If he's a career starting center then it'll be worth it.
Really not understanding these trades. Jets were clearly looking QB. But we've addressed 2 of our 3 biggest needs. Now if we can get Jeremy Cash in RD3, I think we can go into the remainder of the draft purely looking BPA.
Do you actually have a clue about what you're spouting off about or are you just being contrarian because you think it's fun?
They're often trying to prevent another team from also trading to the same spot to take that player, not necessarily the team they're trading with.
Love it. Starting center for the next ten years. There's a good chance this guy is a perennial pro bowler by his second season, in my opinion. Another good chance he's better than the Colts' first round pick. If we get Carl Nassib in the third round, I'm going to light my hair on fire and do backflips down the road in my underwear. It'd be a perfect draft.
Only thing that makes sense is that thought someone else was trading up to take him. Just like in the first round.
Rick Smith's paranoid as hell. Doesn't want ANYONE getting ahead of him. But I like that they are trying to help Brock.

They've gotten sniped too many times in the past and we really had to have this one. Our shiny new qb and rb cost some $$ and this will be an improvement over Ben Jones imo.

What I like the most about this pick is that his real strength is in pass protection.....which is exactly what you need with a young QB.
CBS Sports: Martin steps in and starts at center from the get-go. Solid pick. (B+) Yahoo: Once more, the Texans slide up a short distance for a low cost to ensure they get a good fit with their pick. Expect Martin to play center, which was his primary position, although he could factor in as a guard if need be. A few other teams were monitoring Martin in this range, so the trade appears prudent. A solid, unspectacular pick, but Martin could start Day 1. (B-) USA Today: A plug-and-play center — Martin is the brother of Cowboys all-pro G Zack Martin — who could take over immediately for departed free agent C Ben Jones. SI: Grade B. Martin, the younger brother of the Cowboys' Zack, is a technically sound and powerful player who struggles at times to maintain agility at the second level. For the Texans, he'll provide excellent base-level blocking and give Lamar Miller lanes up the middle. ESPN:Martin is a steady and versatile interior offensive lineman with experience at both center and guard. He comes with some limitations athletically, but he makes up for it with excellent technique and balance. Martin takes quality angles as a run-blocker and has enough size and inline power to lock on and sustain blocks. He has enough short-area quickness and shows very good awareness in pass pro. The former Notre Dame lineman has a chance to become a quality starter on the interior for the next decade. How he fits: Martin is an experienced, plug-and-play starter that fills the void left by Ben Jones' departure in free agency. In addition, he brings quality versatility to provide depth at guard if need be. -- Kevin Weidl Rotoworld: Martin (6'4/299) made 37 starts for the Irish, showing the ability to play guard but mostly manning center. He is the younger brother of Cowboys RG Zack Martin. Although Nick remained a solid starter in college, his movement ability appeared to decline following a sophomore ACL tear, and Martin tested out poorly at the Combine. Martin does offer technically-sound blocking skills and enough toughness to hang around as an NFL center, probably as a low-end to mid-range starter. He should open training camp as the favorite for the starting job at center.
