The article posted on the camp thread has the doctor saying that surgery is the option to get him back on the field sooner. Like what the hell kind of ankle sprain results in this level of catastrophic damage?
are we talking about the cowboys that gets their qbs knocked around like they were dating ray rice? cowboys who are draft kings but can't even reach 5 wins.
Quick background on Mancz. Last season he was a rookie out of Toledo and was considered a draftable prospect heading to the off-season. — PDS (@PatDStat) August 25, 2016 Mancz was invited to the East West Shrine game and during the second day of practice he tore his labrum on his right shoulder. — PDS (@PatDStat) August 25, 2016 Mancz went undrafted and wasn’t even healed when he arrived to Texans rookie mini camp in 2015. It took the entire offseason to get healthy. — PDS (@PatDStat) August 25, 2016 Mancz made the initial 53-man roster coming out of camp in 2015. He played both center and guard during that stretch. — PDS (@PatDStat) August 25, 2016 He was lost mid season due to a knee injury he sustained during practice of that season. He had to rehab his knee to get ready for this camp — PDS (@PatDStat) August 25, 2016 If there are any positives, he has been in the system for over a year but there will be bumps in the road along the way. Just how it works. — PDS (@PatDStat) August 25, 2016 I do think if he would have been "drafted" people would not be freaking out as much. Most do not know him, using 2 preseason games to judge. — PDS (@PatDStat) August 25, 2016

Greg Mancz will be taking over for Nick Martin at C for the Texans. I disagree here, the reason people are "freaking out" is because he's looked like ass the only 2 times people have seen him, even if he was drafted, it would still cause panic to think that the center spot could be THAT bad this season.
Second. Though I don't think it was a bad pick. He was projected to go there and was getting good reviews in camp
My wife had a similar surgery on her ankle. It was multiple sprains over the years in which after the last one she decided on the surgery. She would sprain it every couple of months before the surgery. It had been recommended before some time. After the surgery and grueling rehab her ankle is better than ever. She hasn't had a sprain in 2 years now. They may be looking long term by going with the surgery route and trying to avoid the yearly sprains. I have no idea if Martin's ankle has been a recurring issue though.
He must not have seen the report from today saying that Elliot had come into training camp out of shape. Great start for a guy that most have as one helluva reach pick.
Texans/GM Rick smith still haven't learned how to effectively pay starters vs replacing them. This is Winston/brisel all over again.
BAD LUCK TEXANS
Neither of those players had anything left in the tank, cutting them was the right decision. Not overpaying Ben Jones was also the right decision even if it ended poorly due to injury.
I don't know about the Winston example, but we basically went cheap on the OL and paid up for QB and RB, then drafted a bunch of WR,
