Actually, I think you might see the Memphis Grizzlies make a triumphant return to the Pacific Northwest, and become the Seattle Supergrizzle, while the Pacers might call Kansas City home.
is that 15 million a year operating cost? I know conseco fieldhouse is one of the better arenas in the NBA but damn. I don't think they are going to make it. Adios.
Agreed, hate to see teams move or in this case, possibly shut down. Seriously, the hornets, thunder, and jazz need to move back to their appropriate cities. Go Rockets!!!
Send the Hornets to STL and Indy to SEA....move OKC to the Southwest division...Hornets to the Central in the East...Indy to the Northwest Division.
They're done, The Sonics weren't even able to save their team. No basketball team in Indiana is nothing to be worried about considering the fact that they are only good at football.
There are going to be several teams on the move over the next few years, but they won't get the super deals we've seen in the past. I could see a team coming to Seattle, but they would likely have to play in Key Arena for a while. They would get increased market share and maybe a more favorable rent, but they won't get a new palace for an arena. Seattle kept the rights to the name Sonics, so if we get another team up here, they'll go to the old name and jerseys. Bill Simmons had a really good write up about the financial troubles the league is in.
I agree with the Hornets and Thunder. Charlotte should always have a pro team...but the Jazz...cmon man they shouldn't leave Utah. I hate the Jazz and all but I would hate to lose my favorite punching buddy in Utah
Jazz should got New Orleans. Jazz has nothing to do with Utah. Utah deserves a team though. They have shown that they will support their team, and are a vital part of their home court advantage. But, not the Jazz.
Isn't IU their professional basketball team? Seems perfect for them. Seems reasonable to me. Indiana may be a basketball state, but college and high school fit that culture way better than the NBA. I think it may be in part to the 90% white racial demographic.
Seattle is not a solution. A team just moved from there because of arena issues. Teams are going to have to be self sufficient with government deficits, referendums to fund new stadiums have no chance with the economy in shambles. The NBA gravy train will be over if a team is allowed to go belly up, they better find a buyer for the team.
