This might be a blessing in disguise. Giants may very well land the top pick, draft Sam Darnold, and move on from Eli without breaking a stride. It's the best kind of rebuild like what happened to Colts with Luck after Manning. So many awful teams spend eternity in the NFL dungeons just get their franchise QB.
man if Watson can get to the superbowl 2x, and make nrg a dominant home stadium like the link as russell wilson has. Man we gon be in good shape
After the short-lived Mike Glennon era went #asexpected, Bears have made the switch to Mitchell Trubisky.
Giants, 49ers, Dolphins, and Chargers will all be in the mix. Luckily for them, a lot of good QB prospects this year. Darnold, Rosen, Allen, Rudolph and Falk could all go 1st round.
There is a lot of football to be played between now and April. That said, the opportunity of playing for the 49ers under Shanahan or becoming the Giants next QB with OBJ as your primary weapon will be very hard to pass once the NFL season is over and we know who has the top pick. If it's the Browns, then for sure Darnold might pass, but the 49ers or Giants will be hard to resist.
Not so much for Leinart though. But for Mariota, it really didn't help or hurt him in terms of draft status. Sure he won a ton of awards and got a shot at a championship but he still would've been a Top 3 pick had he come out, maybe an argument to be made he would've been #1 over Clowney.
I meant it in terms of his development as a QB. Mariota did himself a huge favor by coming back. He definitely was not ready for the NFL after his redshirt sophomore year. He was a much different player his 3rd season in a lot of ways. Agreed it may not have done much for his draft status.
Titans should have signed Kaepernick, plays a similar style to Mariota. Too bad politics have made him un-signable.
