LOL. This dude is defending McGrady for telling STEPHEN A SMITH. Oh I forgot, ESPN is the one paying his hero like 20 million a year to jack up 3 pointers on fast breaks. Oh its it's his "livelihood", that dude played what? 35 games in the 09 season? What kind of sick leave or vacation time is that? That's like Weekend at Bernies time. oh what? the Rockets were at fault? for what? letting him go to Chicago to train with Tim Grover for half the season? Going on LA radio and telling them how the Lakers are going to win? I pity the fool that pities Tracy McGrady.
They tried to trade him to the Clippers for Baron Davis and a 1st rounder (turned out to be #1 overall). Clips said no and took Mo Williams instead.
Wow. You're right. I was sure James Posey was still playing, but I guess no one signed him last year.
Random question and not necesarily threadworthy: Why is it that the top corners of the pain are called the "elbows"?
I have consistently followed the Rockets for more than 25 years and I have watched probably 80% of the games in that time and 99% of the games since the the dvr has been available. Sometimes I have a different opinion than Clutch, that doesn't mean he is right and I am wrong or the other way around, it's just a different view of the same thing.
Some guys here take things for granted. He was a special player, lost his athleticism, did not work out properly, lost confidence and everything took place within 1-2 years. It began earlier though. And his injuries were well documented. Now just imagine the org is dying for success at that point, when they got some decent role players and borderline stars to go with him. Not all is on him, but at times he wanted it all on him. He couldn't handle the playoff losses, couldn't handle it all.
McGrady just wanted out. I remember vividly reading Chronicle that McGrady could of played and didn't want to play then Rockets didn't want him to play, but he wants to play. TMac went to his own doctors and went to Chicago to rehab without Rockets consent which I think caused him to to be exiled. After all this, McGrady still considers Houston home and he did this unbecoming a star himself, not the Rockets.
I will say this T-Mac ruined his reputation with Clutch Fans the minute he pulled the Toronto game. I still haven't really haven't grasped that game in my mind yet, its almost like who is this guy? the same guy who dumped a playoff record on Dallas (yet still lost). I will say this about Yao however. He is every bit as accountable as T-mac in those three 1st round losses they had. Both of them in my eyes were all stars and both of them failed miserably (Yao in particularly being undressed by Utah). You'd never hear it from this board though because T-mac has the blame and deservedly so because he ruined the end of that era
Nah. Morey admitted himself that he had major input on the Battier trade. True, he wasn't the one who pulled the trigger. But it had Morey's fingerprints all over it. I don't have time to find the article. But here is a CF thread that discuss the issue: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=213546 A respected old time poster GATER is the epitome of unforgiving of Morey for the Battier trade.
He had input in the trade, but it's still a Dawson trade. Rudy T had input on the drafting of Sam Cassell. I'm sure Rick Adelman had the input for all of those ex-Kings players we got.
And you can get your facts wrong, especially when you you think that you or Clutch are the the only true real Rocket fans with all knowing knowledge.
I can get my facts wrong, but I try to research them if I think i might be wrong. Some stuff I don't need to research like Rockets winnning championships. did i say that? I say I trust Clutch and others like him. I think he's right about 99 % of the time . 99 %
I agree with you, I like a lot of Clutch's takes on things and yours. I'm just saying that other people can still have valid points even if their name isn't Clutch or tinman. We can all be wrong sometimes, I remember years ago when I thought Mo Taylor had a good chance of becoming a very good power forward.
The fact remains that TMac has been bouncing from team to team on veteran minimum putting up small numbers for the last 4 years. There are several ways to interpret that fact, but to me it's proof positive that McGrady wasn't faking his injuries. No one would intentionally ruin their career as drastically as his. This doesn't excuse that he is a self-entitled whiny player, but I think he has paid his dues. Still, I'm not the judge or the prosecution so it's time to let the negativity go.
