Didn't see it posted here yet (apologies if I missed it)...

    Link

Is it just me or does Larry Ellison look like Rael, one of the weirdos from Clonaid?

I saw this, but it seems that Oracle is over paying, but if its "strategic", and helps them compete with SAP, then, I guess you can convince your board to do it...Acquisition/Development Actuals never meet initial projections...

PeopleSoft has long been Oracle's chief rival in ERP. I think Larry Ellison would have paid anything to acquire them.

I agree, RMT. I'm wondering how long before PeopleSoft customers are forced to migrate to Oracle.

Really SAP is their main rival. Their market standing swamps Peoplesoft's.

True. I stated that PeopleSoft was Oracle's main ERP rival because their market shares were so close together. Both are way below SAP.

After PeopleSoft version 9 comes out next year. The next version after that will be an upgrade from PeopleSoft 9 to Oracle version whatever. The hoopla over the takeover will have died down by then. You're looking 2-3 years down the road before this happens.

The bigger question is...will PeopleSoft customers get decent customer service, or will PeopleSoft customers be serviced like inmates in an Istanbul prison? There are quite a few PeopleSoft customers going through upgrades as we speak that are wondering this out loud.

I would wait a little while, if at all possible, to see how things shake out.

I hear ya. Wait and watch. If the honchos at your firm were smart, they would delay their decision.
