Did he really contribute? I dont recall him standing out much when he did play. House was a diff story, he stood out w/ the limit time that he had. Clark seems to have glimpse of what he could do and the rest of the memories i had of him is him missing shots & just didn't do much...
Danuel House was a diff story. When he did play he stood out making the hustle plays & knocking down shots w/ the limited PT. Gary was just blend & didn't do enough for me or maybe i'm missing some of the stuff like he getting in the right position in front of his guy etc?
To me it's actually the depth that looks horrible (aside from my general displeasure about the lack of size and defense on our roster). There's no one on that second unit (save for maybe Clemons ...maybe) who can play. Realistically our starters are going to have to play lots more minutes if we want to have a chance of beating good teams. And what is the obsession with playing McLamore? the guy is shooting 31% from 3pt. I don't think that guy should be in the rotation.
Starters- Westbrook, Harden, THABO, Tucker, Capela Thabo is old but the natural fit at 3. Bench- Rivers, MCLEMORE, Clark, Anderson, Chandler McLemore steps in for Gordon as 6th man. Clark, Anderson fill the void at backup forward. Go on head. Complain about the 9th man off the bench. 5 playable guards, 3 playable forwards and 2 centers, it’s not like a super complex puzzle. They have the depth to fill in for Gordon. Losing House right now is the much bigger issue.
He actually seems to move well on team defense doesn't ball watch but since he's so short he can't rebound like House.
So if Mclemore starts then a starting 5 of Russ, Harden, Mclemore, Tucker and Capela. That 5 man lineup this season has been used for a total of 6 minutes this season: Off rtg: 106.7 Def rtg: 87.5 Net rtg: 19.2 TS%: 59.5% Pace: 123.66
MDA needs to just use the whole team. Its a long season and we really don't need to overwork guys. I believe we will still win regardless because we have 2 MVP players.
He didn't contribute much on the offensive end, he wasn't a very good shooter, but I thought he showed a lot of promise defensively. I think the lineups he was in did pretty well even if he wasn't a great scorer. He's got size and length, and he can move well. He shoots well enough that he can't be left open, and he's not scared to shoot. I'd at least like to see him get some minutes this year to see if he's made any major improvements compared to last year. Who knows, maybe he's this years Danuel House. We can't know until we play him.
