The refs' performances are reviewed and scored after games. Maybe that review doesn't punish falling for flops hard enough. But, the system's already there.

I understand why they don't want to call it in-game. Since refs fall for flops all the time, I wouldn't trust them to whistle them. But, fines aren't going to do jack. Actually, I'm skeptical that the league will even assess fines, because we've already seen this routine 3 years ago and nothing happened. But, even if they did assess fines, players are competitive enough that they will pay the money if it gives them an edge on the court (the only potential eficacy I can see is the shame for the player for having a lot of fines). And, in the end, if they want an effective punishment -- sufficiently large fines or suspensions -- they probably need to work it out with the union, who'll object to the financial losses.

In addition to the fines, they should either call flopping as a foul- or just stop calling fouls for guys who flop. Do it proportionally. You flop in the 1st quarter, maybe I''ll turn a blind eye to that hard foul in the 3rd quarter.

hahaha....they are going to take money out of these people's pockets for this at their discretion. stern is an effin fascist.

they should assess the floppers fouls credited towards their next game or something. stealing money from them for falling on the floor is just disgusting.

Due to the new policy. The clippers will donate 100 million to the stern foundation.

In addition to the fine(I like the % of salary idea), assess a technical foul as well. Since the game is over, the foul wouldn't effect that game, but it would add to the player's technical foul total towards a suspention.

Do they mean offensive flopping as well as defensive? They better.

huzzah... now the league can target players who don't actually flop and fine them.

I don't think this is going to deter behavior at all. Best policy would be not to call the fouls in the first place.

There should be grades of flopping. First - an obvious one, which should result in instant ejection, 1 game suspension and fine. Second - A suspicious one, which could be reviewed after game and result in fine +suspension.

3 flops in a season should result in 5 game suspension. 5 flops in a season should result in 10 game suspension.

I hope they have an exponential fine system. First time
    5k, then 10k, 20k, 40k; and give those money to NBDL/Charity.
