I thought Beverley did a great job early-on keeping the ball and offense away from Lillard completely. They forced Portland to initiate the offense through other players, unfortunately, that turned out to be Aldridge.

What seemed to happen gradually - Beverley got in foul trouble, altered his play, and opted for a more conservative approach that would keep him on the floor longer. He actually played like a veteran. Conceded great, physical defense for really good defense - because he had to.

So yeah, the scoreboard can lie.

Probably a bit of this - He was trying to free up his teammate with a tough screen. 90% of the time that sort of screen isnt called because its off ball the problem was Williams was then in the process of passing the ball to Lillard and the refs attention then turned towards the play and it was obvious Aldridge was moving and leaning in to get a good hit on Bev.

I 100% believe there was nothing malicious behind it at all.

    edit: Guy is wolverine man!

I do expect Bev to be limited though - probably only 20 or so minutes

Lets win game 2 and 3 before we say we are saved. Still, excellent news.
