http://www.ultimateheights.com/stories/220946-hisd-plans-female-only-campus-next-fall I am helping my little sister plan for middle school and she wants to go to the new All‐Female College Prep Academy but for some reason I am supposed to provide input on the decision. I know nothing about the Houston secondary schools, but I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the upcoming All‐Female College Prep Academy or had a suggestion for a better middle school. I saw Briarmeadow Middle School was supposed to be good, but she didn't want to go.
T.H. Rodgers My sister currently goes there and it has consistently surprised me with the quality of the education, the diversity of the students and the resources available.
T.H. Rogers San Felipe and Augusta went there for middle school back in the day - class of 1999 got a good education i think lol
I went to an all boys school. And I came out just fine. Not touched by a priest, never encountered a penis near me.
HISD is one of the biggest jokes of a district in the state. Send her to SBISD or KISD if you can. Source: Went to FBISD, worked in SBISD.
TH Rogers generally feeds into Bellaire HS (although it's a magnet school) both are HISD. Bellaire is one of the top schools in Texas and nationally ranked academically. most other HISD schools are crap though.
Since we are talking about all HISD schools now, I feel should put in the good word for DeBakey HSHP and HSPVA. All three of the high schools mentioned are the cream of the crop, very un-HISD
Can't tell you much about the schools. If my wife were posting, she'd give a thumbs-up for the all-girls education, saying it's a lot easier to pay attention to your studies and have a lot less social drama and less competing with other girls.
Because most of the drama is driven by competition between girls for boys' attention, allegedly. I guess it's one of those things where one's (that is, males') mere observation would upset the results, so I'll just have to take her word for it.
