If the NCAA weren't so grossly engorged on leeching from poor kids it would see that in the long term...being a part of junior paid basketball- in partnership with the NBA, would probably make everyone better off...if they could sell it to the NBA. Theres no reason the Duke Blue Devils couldn't be a paid dev squad alongside the RGV Vipers....like non. The problem is that the current model of NCAA slave labor makes so absurdly inequitable, and thus profitable, for the various coaches, admins and such that their own short term greed tends to cloud all judgment. I mean when you have strength coaches making 7 figures and indoor waterfalls...those guys have no incentive to look 10 months down the road let alone 10 years.
You say that without any idea what the individual you're talking about is going through. His family may be struggling to put food on the table. $125,000 is going to be extremely difficult to pass on if your family is in extreme poverty.
That’s an even smaller subset of the one and done super subset. One year 125k doesn’t do much for a family. These superstar high school players have people in their circles smart enough to keep them focused on the big picture, the NBA.
