Aint no way in hell Lin gets traded this year (especially packaged with Asik!), no team is going to take on that contract until next years trade deadline when it essentially an expiring... And if I'm trading Asik and Beverley I better be getting LMA or Love because Asik is enough to get a deal done for just about any other 4 IMO

Based on the past it would seem like Lin is on the receiving end of getting traded at some point in the season.

And you are speaking like a tribalistic fool who can't see past his own village. Let me ask you this, if you know your talents are not being fully utilized in the company/organization you work for, what would you do? That's right, you'd start looking around.

The only two teams in the entire league who would be interested in trading for J. Lin are Utah and Milwaukee. And that is only if these two teams begin to sour on their young/unproven starting PGs (Trey Burke and Brandon Knight). But what will either team be willing to give up, besides an expiring contract (e.g., Caron Butler, Andros Biedrins)? Not a first round pick, not a quality young player. Probably a second round pick and that's it. That's the problem for Houston, it might make more sense to just stick with Lin until his contract is up after the 2014-15 season.

Of course, that large expiring contract could always get flipped for someone useful, or packaged with Omer Asik and/or Chandler Parsons for a big name, so there's that.

The main point is that Lin doesn't really have trade value but he can be moved, most likely.

If I were a betting man....I'd bet Morey keeps metrics for on-ball defense. When you look at Rafer, Lowry, Beverley....they were/are on-ball defensive hawks.

It makes sense to me too. There's a ton of great playmaking/shooting point guards who are the focal point of their team's offensive thrust. IF you have that guy at the top that totally disrupts the opponent's offensive flow....goes a long way towards winning. Morey knows that smalls that can score the ball and distribute are in abundance throughout the league. Hence no burning of first round draft picks on those guys...pick them in the 2nd round like we did Canaan. Canaan has as good a chance of being a top notch point guard in this league as MCW and that kid from Michigan. And the difference between their games and the plethora of point guards around the league is simply not going to be that great. But.....a ball-hawking defender at the point....a guy that can thwart those guys night in and night out while coming down the other way and throwing up a 40% 3-ball.....that guy becomes very valuable in a league full of offensively potent point guards who basically offset each other every night in the stat sheet.

Now...with our setup...we have a primary playmaker (Harden) who is one of the top 2-4 BIGGEST perimeter playmakers in the league (Lebron, Westbrook, etc.)

Morey loves defensive ball hawks at the 1.

All right, no harm no foul. Sure, every player should look out for himself. But I'm not a player; I'm a fan. I'm focused on the Rockets with extreme prejudice, I admit.

But I will say one thing about your perspective. Lin, and any player, might not know what is best for him. The players are like students in a way, still learning, still developing, with coaches. Players can know where the most money is. But beyond that, they don't necessarily know how they should be used. Even if they seem to know that starting is better than sitting on the bench, look: Lin already tried to move to a starting job (with the Rockets), and maybe it didn't turn out as expected. I just think he should work on his game as hard as possible and contribute to his present team as much as possible and not think about anything else until his contract us up.

~lol~ Nice, unfortunately AB isn't getting it done, so that last one should be Lin!

I actually think the biggest uncertain factor is how good Beverley will be as a starting PG. Maybe the future starting PG is neither Lin nor Beverley.

Asik is in the starting lineup and lin is not. if someone is to be traded, most likely lin.
