Was the championship jersey so 'bad' and 'unclassic' (think Lakers/Celtics) that it needed to be buried? That jersey or a variant of it should be an alternate jersey every single season.
it sounds as if its just an alternate jersey, but also like it may just be one of those throwbacks, does anyone know if its going to be the same design, just different colors, or a retro design worn throughout the year?
but if Tad Brown mentioned something about paying tribute to the championship years then it can not be the Pajamas
Who knows if Tad Brown knows his Rockets history. DIdn't he join in 2006? THere's poster here that think Clyde was on both championship teams ('You mean he wasn't?')... I bet there's people out there that think Barkley won a ring in Houston! As other posters pointed out, there's not really a way to pay tribute to the 'Championship jersey' while going dark, unless it's gray, given the championship colors are red and yellow only.
they had 3 or 4 jerseys they were choosing between, a friend at the rockets said they brought them all around and asked all the employees what they thought. Unfortunately my friend told me they were all "cute"
I hope this is our way of transitioning back closer to a more classic style with the city's name on the front and a better font like some other teams have done.
I hope it's just a dark, deep red. (blood red would go good with our logo) Unless they're going black I don't want to mess with gray or blue or anything non-red.
I think everyone and their mom knows that Barkley didn't win a ring haha, we get reminded all the time on TNT either through jabs from Kenny and Ernie or bitterness emanating from the Chuckster himself.
There's already way too many freaking black unis in the NBA. PASS. Definitely bring yellow back into the fold.
I think the best way to pay tribute to the championship jersey is to bring back the championship jersey. Just a thought.
A new third uniform? How about we just go with two old uniforms... It is a damn shame there are so many pictures of Dream and Clyde on the Internet in those crappy pinstripes. The only thing I can say about the new ones is that they are better than the pinstripes and the logo is so nondescript you fail to notice the dripping imagery sometimes. First the Oilers leave and then the Rockets take away the only championship uniforms in Houston's history (I'm not counting the Aeros). Ridiculous.
Or the Dynamo, apparently. I love the old unis, but there's no money in keeping them. New logo, new unis means people buy more. That's just the way of sports now.
I think it's the league not the team. There are too many teams with black jerseys as it is. If the NBA didn't stand in its way, every team would have black jerseys.
