Well think for yourself again, Iran has never attacked Israel, Hezbollah a militia group created by Iran has. Why do you think that?

    1) It's not funny.
    2) They are not a mirror reflection of each other. Israel is a free democracy. Iran is a repressive regime based on fanatical Islamist beliefs that murders homosexuals, oppresses women, sponsors terrorism.

Not even close. Only if you are an anti-semite like Exiled or a fanatical leftist like mc mark.

Are you talking about Iran or the US...??? Lol... Mexico has gone to shyt and that's a direct impact on American citizens but it seems many American citizens have their eyes focused on issues across the world instead of in their own backyard. Protect Israel at all costs _ even our own.

Netanyahu strike on Iran would be using conventional weapons, not nuclear. He's not that crazy.

This is absolutely credible and follow the Begin Doctrine (preventive strike against WMD policy of Israeli government). It has been done twice, well at lease known to the wold twice. First in 1981 with the strike on the Iraqi's nuclear reactor and recently in 2006 (or 07?) on Syrian's secretive nuclear site.

The 06 strike was something the Israeli wanted Bush to do on their behalf. Bush was actually smart enough to decline (his reasoning is yes there is a secret site, but my intel said it's low risk/non-operative toward a bomb and after the Iraq war and missing WMD, I have no way to convince Congress to approve on a low risk site; but you go ahead). So the Israeli did, but never announced it or explained why - because they understood Assad enough to not push him over the edge toward war. Assad gets to claim they successfully pushed the Israeli planes out and the attack was on an abandon military facility. Not much of a fall out there.

The 1981 strike was secretive and no one knew about it including the US. The fallout was a mess. Saddam Hussein went from aimless nuclear ambition to a focused push toward a bomb, including releasing Iraqi top nuclear physicist Jafar, who has been imprisoned since 1979, to run their nuclear program. The attack not only didn't delay or stop, it likely started or at least sped up their nuclear ambition. The eventual fallout -- US Iraqi war to destroy their missing nuclear WMD.

So, this isn't at all unprecedented. We have two cases where one was quite a success and another where it was a disaster to the US and the world. Israel probably view it differently. Even in the Iraq case, you can argue that that one move started a world against Iraq view and eventually the war that removed Hussein.

A main point is, Israel will act in their interest. The U.S. too often acts in Israel interest against their OWN interest. We and the world has now waken up and decided not to repeat the same mistake against Iran. They got a deal and a different path forward than what Netenyahu want. You could argue that Netenyahu doesn't actually believe that a strike against Iran would stop or ever slow down their nuclear program but to only sped it up. But that's might be exactly what he want... a repeat of the strategy where the U.S. and the world have to come in and deal with Iran for them.

Hezbollah was created when Israel invaded and occupied Lebanon. So you can hold Israel accountable for the reason Hezbollah exists in the first place. Decades of occupation tends to piss people off.

Hezbollah is a terrorist group that is responsible for numerous terror acts that killed Americans and Jews. Now tell me why should Israel feel comfortable knowing a country that sponsors a terrorist group that seeks to destroy your country, have nuclear weapons?

He's not wrong. Israel screwed up so badly in lebanon. The ironic thing is that they were in perfect position to actually win the favor of the local Shi'ite population who for years had faced discrimination at the hands of not only the Maronite Christian population but also the local Sunni population.

When Israel invaded Lebanon the first time, the Shi'ite community didn't stop them. In fact, at the time, the Sunni dominated PLO had informally occupied the south and the local Shi'ite community was quite happy with the fact that Israel had pushed the PLO out.

However, Israel invaded with a second motive. In addition to clearing the PLO out, Israel wanted to get the Lebanese government to sign a peace treaty at any cost. In order to win the favor of the Christian government, Israel basically did whatever the Maronites told them to do. This includes shelling and attacking Shi'ite and Sunni neighborhoods alike. Basically the Israelis committed all sorts of absurd tactical decisions because they stupidly thought that propping up the Maronite government would somehow bring them peace. In reality, the Maronites didn't give a damn about Israel and only used their status as the only major Arab Christian government to convince Israel to commit all kinds of human rights abuses in their name.

Israel eventually got so fed up that they practically forced the Lebanese government to sign a peace treaty at gunpoint. But that treaty is little more than a piece of paper with some writing on it. The government collapsed quickly after this event and all Israel gained from that war were angry Shi'ite and Sunni communities who had formed their own armed militia groups. One of those groups was the Iranian funded Hezbollah who gained traction as a militia who was committed to protecting Shi'ites from Israeli and Maronite Christian militias.

Israel blew it in Lebanon. And no one should forget it. The US would make the same mistake later when Reagan sent in American troops who also served as pawns of the Maronite Christians. Both Israel and the US were stupid enough to think that because the Maronites were Christian they were trustworthy and honorable.

You have to realize that ATW only recently learned who Mohammad Mosaddegh was and the western role in his overthrow. His level of knowledge about the region, beyond the latest terrorist attack, is extremely limited and resistant to any "facts" or "history" that goes beyond- muslim terrorists = bad.

You do realize Israel has killed, maimed, tortured, assassinated, and murdered tens of thousands of people as well as destroyed and taken over many billions of dollars in infrastructure and property in defense of an illegal occupation? Why don't we start there before you ask me these dumbass questions because you don't seem to know a damn thing about Hezbollah or Israel.

    Yeah, similar problems everywhere man.

I don't believe Americans truly care about issues across the world. I think Americans are co-operating with a powerful class of billionaires out of total fear. The most scared population I've ever met.

It's not really their fault. I spent a few weeks in LA and nothing fascinated me more than flipping through the news channels. MY GOD. It's really crazy out there, and this coming from a person who watched a few news channels and reads two dozen newspapers/journals a day. There is a GIGANTIC difference between the tone in the news there and literally anywhere else. Not to mention constantly having their healthcare and social security yanked around.

It's not so easy to overcome. Fear from the moment you're politically aware till your last breath results in actual psychological trauma and that makes people naive about forceful leadership. This is just science. The billionaire class occupied the field of psychology decades ago and they certainly won't let go of it now.

It's not a coincidence that diversified media platforms are making Americans less likely to support a war. It's also not a coincidence that the billionaires are now beginning to occupy those new diverse media platforms.

The change will come when Americans see that the criminal at home is also the criminal abroad. There is no government that is significantly better abroad than at home or vice versa.

You have to realize that gifford1967 only recently googled lots of stuff and acts like he was born with a history book under his pillow as a baby. Instant expert.

See, that's an entirely different argument. They may shovel enough money into politicians pockets to make you guys do it, but he will never do it himself.

This is not the same Middle East as Saddam's time. Middle Eastern elders can't be fooled anymore. Parents are now genuinely scared for their kids futures in every Middle Eastern country. Cancer in Iraq. People eating out of dumpsters in Iran. The countries formerly known as Syria and Libya. Beheadings everywhere. Sectarian divisions exploding. War in the south. The Lebanese, the poor hopeless Lebanese. Do I have to say anything about Egypt? Oil through the floor has citizens of gulf states wondering how they will not regress. The youth are just waiting for someone to light the match. All the leaders in the Middle East know this, including Netenyahu. Neither he nor anyone who succeeds him will take that kind of step. The noose is too tight. He had his chance, that's done now. America can't enforce the requisite amount of 'stability' anymore.

It's a very very different Middle East bro.

ATW spends the huge majority of his time on this board attacking out of context sentences from a book he has never read in his life. I would have been amazed if he knew who Mosaddegh was.

Mosaddegh is the great Iranian pride, what would have been the first voluntary transition from a monarchy into a democracy the Middle East and possibly the world had ever seen. Of course they had to kill him. Of course they don't talk about him on Fox News or Die Welt or FAZ. So, of course ATW had no idea about him.

Explain the "out of context" part to the Hizbollah, Hamas and ISIS terrorists who are using these sentences to justify their actions. Don't tell me.

hahahaha way to dodge the question buddy. I'll ask you again, if you're Israel and a country who finances a terrorist group that is set to destroy you, would you feel at ease knowing they have nuclear weapons?
