    NYT-Nuggets Need More Nene

Nene is actually one of the league’s most effective post players, though you’d never know it from his role in Denver’s offense. Some nights, he seems resigned to clean up after misses by Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups. But on the rare occasion when the Nuggets actually look to feature him in their attack (as they did last night, when Nene posted a season-high 14 field goal attempts), Nene does crazy things like victimize a living legend. Tim Duncan may have had quite the evening, but he had no way to counter Nene’s quickness, nor his ability to execute from either block.

It wasn’t a standout performance, either. Nineteen points on 50 percent shooting? That’s what Nene does. He leads the league in both effective field goal percentage and true shooting percentage. According to Synergy Sports Technology, he scores in some capacity (either with a made bucket or a trip to the foul line) on 75 percent of his post-ups, and currently averages 1.5 points per possession down on the block. Those are monstrous numbers that trump Nene’s competition.

-Sounds like the kind of player that Morey may try to target to anchor the Rockets front court with Yao possible done for good. Nene is in the midst of a 6 year $60 million contract, which is very palatable for an inside presence who can get 1.5 points per post possession.

I've watched few Nuggets game, against Memphis or at New York. In both of those games, Nene was probably Nuggets MVP. He can play. He is pretty tough inside and he is a pretty good defender.

I would definitely take Nene at this time. Whenever I watch him it seems like he makes a great post move or off the ball move to get a good shot, then always messes up the shot. Regardless, he's effective and a post presence.

If or when Denver deals Melo, then they might look to clean house. Nene won't be a cheap acquisition, but he'd be a great anchor for a team sorely lacking.

Must be a matchup/comfort thing with Nene. I've seen him disappear plenty of times. IMO it's more on Nene than the Nuggets.

I'll wait on Nuggets4 to comment, but this has been my view for years. There are times when Nene plays hard and he becomes a load to handle. Other times you can barely tell when he's on the court.

Haven't watched the Nugs much this year so don't know if this still holds true.

All Nuggets4 is going to do is come here, say there is some trade brewing but he can't comment on it, then nothing happens. No need to wait. ;)

Good idea except why would ANYONE, including the Nuggets, take Yao?

If they are clearing house like they say they are when they trade Melo, doing this trade plus the azz load of 1st rd picks that they are bound to get from NY ot NJ will significantly help them. It has already been discussed and considered that if Melo is moved then they would likely move Billups contract too. I think he has 2 more years left and we would need him around for leadership since we would be trading Battier.

By doing this DEN would be getting 31.9 mil off the books this year. I would also throw in Chuck Hayes contract of 1.9 mil = 33.4 mil Thats financial freedom !!!

We would get young big athletic dynamic talent to keep us competitive while we try to develop acquired lottery picks.

I would have DEN give us one of their acquired picks from the Melo deal for us taking so much of their salary.

I think he's just the hard-nosed kind of guy we need inside.

You think that we only need to give Hill and Budinger for Nene BUT then we would trade Hayes, Jeffries PLUS PICKS for Thabeet? I know we need a center but the desperation is starting to get ridiculous.

Maybe we should also trade Brooks for Calvin Booth, Scola for Saer Sene and then the rest of the team for BJ Mullens?
