Well he just gave Parsons a start, so apparently he does. Morris looks great at the three so far, but take the Dleague with a grain of salt.

For anyone who may have seen the game, was Morris guarding Edwin Ubiles much? Ubiles looks like he went off for 36 points and had a good game. Looks like Morris was guarding him on at least one of those plays in the highlights.

Good question. We all know he can score, the question-mark remains: can he defend the SF position.

Don't know when/how we're gonna break this logjam at the 3. Morris needs the D league to make up for the training camp he missed, and he's gonna be pretty good.

    Chandler?

    Bud?

Twill, even (although he can also play the 2; but so can Kevin Martin and CLee).

Too many Indians, not one Chief out on the floor.

Are there any full highlights of both his games with RGV?

I disagree with people that say being down there is not to his benefit. I think it will get him in great game shape and give him some reps at the pro 3 spot. People here are delusional and give Morris no credit where I think he is doing great. No summer league, no offseason of working with coaches, 2 week training camp and the guy comes out and has a performance like he did against the Spurs. Then plays solid in the D league back to back nights. Give him 5 or 6 more D League games. Ship out Budinger/Martin/Scola and figure out which top 10 pick you can drop in with that young group and justify building around. Either trade Dalembert at the deadline or just decline his option next year. Resign Thabeet if he proves anything and let Hill and Flynn walk. Obvious hole in our young lineup is center, so we can see what happens in the draft. Andre Drummond could still declare. Or you have a good lotto pick, the NY pick, DMO and possibly Llull as assets. A star player becomes available and you use the picks to bring them on. Lowry needs to end up being your 3rd best player. We would need to add a perimeter player and post player that are the top 2 guys on the team, but the high lotto pick is the key to whichever way we want to go.

    Patterson
    Lowry
    Dragic
    Lee
    Parsons
    Morris
    Williams

He can post up,that's all. He will be able to catch and shoot with time at the NBA level.
Handling the ball in the NBDL,is very different than in the NBA. Your concern about him being able to defend 3's is a very valid one.

In the last game Marcus Morris has 33 points and 16 rebounds. In this game had 32 points and 12 rebounds. Really good for the D-League but if you translate those points to the NBA they would be like 10-14 points.

Let's not forget Terrence "Triple Double" Williams in the D-League.

Yeah I am curious about that too. He had 5 personal fouls last night and I can't really tell who he was guarding. In the highlights it showed him on Ubiles who had 36 points, but he only had 4 points at the half and the Vipers were crushing them in the first half.

You'd be cutting his stats more than in half and if you cut T-Wills stats in more than half its pretty accurate

It would be more of a 16,17 pts..... and 6 rbs which is very good for a rook.

I like your optimism, but it's just not reality. All of those top scorers in the D-League would not average 50% of their numbers in the NBA. If anything it's closer to 25% of what they average in the D-League.

He won't get the touches.....the freedom to handle the rock......That's right....but he could easily score......that is the point

The Al Harrington comparison is on so far.....I bet he will be better

To have some expectations for a lottery pick that was projected to be among top 11-14 is not pure optimism.....
Not everyone is a Terrence Williams, at least Morris has size and is going to shoot the rock

There is no straight % comparisons for D-league, since it's a league of tweeners and guards. The %s are all over the map.

Hayes's rebounding went down about 25% and his points went down by 50%. While too short for PF/C, his NBA level strength, nose for the ball, lateral quickness allowed only a 25% drop.

James White didn't even pan out at 25%.

Patrick Patterson came out at 50% of his D-League stats.

It's more about watching what the player does on the court and see if his size and athlecism translates. Is the player just depending on superior athlecism to run the floor for dunks against players or is he actually beating his man off the dribble in a half court set.
