I can see the Lakers trading their top pick to Minnesota to acquire Kevin Love.

Would be hilarious if he left anyway like Dwight did.

Not sure if this information is truly reflective of what Love wants, but if it is (and I know it's been rumored that he wants LAL), I'm not sure if I'd want him anyway. LAL and NYK aren't going anywhere anytime soon with him. Him going to LAL might attract other FA's when their cap space clears, but with Kobe's monstrous salary + the risk that FA's might still not join him, he'd be taking a huge risk just to get to a big market. There's no certainty of them putting together a title contender. Same with NYK, him + melo still isn't going to beat the Heat.....that team is in salary cap hell right now.

But hey if what he wants is the market to build a brand he's been missing out on being in Minny then that's cool......he's just not a winner then. And we need people hungry to win.....not to build their brand.

I hope these rumors aren't truly reflective of his thoughts though.....

That's way too much to give up for a player that will leave any way...and for a team that will be rebuilding next season any way. Especially if it is a top 5 pick or something.

I agree. It sounds like he cares more about the bright lights of the Big Apple and Hollywood instead of going to a contender b/c those teams ain't winning any time soon.

It is a battle between us and the Lakers if this is true. We are in the best position now since we have young talent and can move guys for future first round picks.

Honestly, I would be okay with moving T Jones in order to get Love.

Lakers won't trade there #1 round pick, they have a short window with Kobe around.

If Love was smart. He will come to Houston.. Clearly a better team for him. Understand he has LA roots. But, cmon now...

Lin, Asik, Parsons, Jones, 25th pick and 2016 and 2018 1st round picks should be enough right.

Then sign Carmelo to Vet Min becoose he wants to win he doesnt need any money.

You'd be okay with moving Jones to get Kevin Love? That's a bold statement bro.

Besides, I can see the Lakers moving the 5 or 6. They have a short window with Kobe, but that doesn't mean much if you're the LA Lakers. If Kevin Love wants to sign with them despite being one of the 3 or 4 worst teams in the league than other stars will sign with them to play with Love. That contract they gave Kobe could bite them though. They'd be squeezing dollars after Love came to fill out the remaining roster.

Asik, Parsons, 2014 1st, and 2016 1st (plus salary filler Powell and/or Casspi) for Love would be great and probably about as good as the Twolves can hope for. Since they already have Pekovic and Dieng, we would probably need a 3rd team involved to ship Asik. Obviously would be fine with adding Jones or DMo in there, too, if need be.

Go out and sign a guy like Marion or Ariza for the MLE and that is a potent lineup for a run in 2014-15 and the next 2 years before you decide again on Harden and Howard and Beverly. Just would need a backup 5, maybe even by dangling Jones or DMo in a trade with the rest of our fillers or just using the bi annual or vet min.

So you want to give up 2 starters, 2 key backups and 3 1st round picks for a dude that may sign elsewhere less than a year after aquiring him?

    Howard
    Love
    Ariza
    Harden
    Bev

    That's a championship caliber team.
