NBA, Nike To Eliminate 'Home'/'Road' Designations In Uniforms The NBA is eliminating "Home" and "Road" uniform designations as it begins its partnership with Nike. Home teams will pick which of their uniforms will be worn at all home games and visiting teams will choose a contrasting uniform. Because of this change, Nike and the NBA worked together to create four core uniforms for each team, classified as “editions.” The first two editions of the NBA uniforms, which will be introduced by teams this summer and will make their on-court debut at the start of the season, are the Association and Icon editions. The Association Edition will be the traditional home white uniform while the Icon Edition will be the traditional road uniform that uses the team's primary color. Eight NBA teams will have a Classic Edition uniform that will celebrate iconic uniforms of the past. NIKE AND THE NBA REVEAL THE FIRST OF THE LEAGUE’S 2017-18 GAME UNIFORMS Announced in June 2015, Nike’s partnership with the NBA begins with the 2017-18 season. Today, and prior to a major launch in early Fall, Nike and the NBA release details of four new primary uniforms and give a first glimpse of the league champion's Association jersey. A NEW NAMING CONVENTION FOR NBA UNIFORMS Coinciding with the introduction of the new uniforms, the NBA is eliminating its “Home” and “Road” uniform designations. Beginning with the 2017-18 season, home teams will pick which of their uniforms will be worn at all home games and visiting teams will choose a contrasting uniform within their own assortment. Because of this change, Nike and the NBA worked together to create four core uniforms for each team, classified as “editions,” which draw from the rich heritage of the NBA and its respective franchises. The first two editions of the NBA uniforms, which will be introduced by teams this summer and will make their on-court debut at the start of the season, are the Association and Icon editions. The two remaining core uniforms, inspired by the mindset of the NBA athlete and the communities that support their teams through thick and thin, respectively, will be revealed in the coming months. The Association Edition, the traditional home white uniform which all 30 teams will have in their assortment, links them together as members of the most exclusive basketball club in the world. It represents an achievement that most athletes have worked their entire lives to reach. The Icon Edition, previously known as the road uniform, represents the rich heritage and iconic identity that exists within each franchise. This edition leverages the team’s primary color, a color that dominates the closets of the most diehard fans. Also this season, eight NBA teams will have a Classic Edition uniform that will be available in the fall. The Classic Edition celebrates some of the most iconic uniforms in league history and can be worn at each team’s discretion. Complementing the new uniform editions, Nike will also unveil a new on-court collection including tights and socks that provide a seamless look for the greatest athletes in the world when they play on the game’s biggest stages.
That GS jersey looks pretty bad. The fabric looks cheaply tacked on where the name is. Also, I prefer the home team to wear white. Looks better since the court already has the team's colors. The road team wearing white just looks weird.
If anyone can spice up our uni game, its Nike. I'm still not a huge fan of our Texans jerseys but they have improved from the Weebok versions. Not much of a change, but a cleaner look imo.
Nike doesn't typically design pro jerseys. If they were contracted to design a specific team's jersey that would be a completely separate deal and I'm not sure the NBA allows for it. They might introduce new cuts or special event jerseys (Christmas). Usually designs are developed in-house or with marketing agencies.
Uhmm so basically a home and a road jersey, got it....That Warriors jersey looks horrible, why post a wrinkled one as the first official jersey photo?? The other bad and just odd choice is ONLY 8 TEAMS WEAR CLASSICS!! WTF???!!! What kind of dumb **** is that, who gets to pick?? You just know these are in there: Celtics, Lakers, Bulls, Warriors & Knicks. So that's 25 teams for 3 jerseys... Horrible start for Nike, just god awful!
Hopefully a texas team that won a championship in a previous font gets to be one of those three. #ketchupandmustard
Wonder what our 4th jersey would be since Nike has said they aren't doing sleeves. Anybody know when the Nike jerseys are going to be for sale?
I love the cuts on the new jerseys. If you don't have Dwight Howard's shoulder genetics then wearing a store-brought NBA jersey is like wearing a short sleeved jersey. They look ridiculous. I love Duke's new jersey cuts: I hate how they are getting rid of home and away jersey colors though. Doesn't make any sense.
Safe to assume for Rockets: Association: Chinese takeout box Home white Icon: Road red Athlete: Black Community: sleeveless version of the hideous CLUTCH CITY red and yellows. Knowing Harden's style and most fans and players style, the Rockets will be playing in their black jerseys almost every home game this season. Could even use it as the contrasting away jersey as well.
This is a lot like soccer where teams have their main kit and then a contrasting 2nd or 3rd kit for facing team with similar main kit. Not the biggest soccer fan, but i believe that's how it works.
