Why? We aren't trading Orlando Magic Dwight Howard. We're trading Dwight who is a star once a week. You don't give up young talent for that. Or a credible star either.
That's one of the worst possible trade ideas I have seen and doesn't have to do with Dwight's worth. I don't think that Dwight's value is what some here think( enough to bring any kind of star back) but what the Rockets get back in this concept is SEVERE NEGATIVE VALUE. Asik and Calderon are very bad long contracts and on top of that Williams has a player option next year. Not even two first is enough incentive to absorb such bad value..esp since we will be wasting Harden's two last years of his contract and risk losing him too. It's stupid makes no sense and will never happen. And the one who gets the most out of this deal is New Orleans btw.
Based on the box score looks like Howard did exceptionally good with 30 and 16. Come on guys. Howard is a physical specimen unlike any other big in this game and the Rox should role with him in a championship run.
And he's expiring. AND he is not going to opt in. Its the best we're going to get, and honestly its better than watching him walk for peanuts. This season is over; time to punt. Can't believe how badly we wasted the Howard-Harden combo; last year we saw the full capability of this squad. 2013 was horrendous in the post-season, and as of yet it looks like 2015 is going to be a disaster for a full season. Way better pairing than Yao-Tmac at the very least; those first round exits and constant nonstop injuries were dreadful.
Getting back Porzingis is a long shot but maybe Lopez can be had while Asik goes to the Knicks along with Dwight? Houston gets Anderson and Lopez out of that deal.
This is like rockets trying to get something desperately because they know howard is walking this summer. I think they can work on something better, and if knicks are not sure they keep howard , this is why the trade is so lopsided.
Wish we could just trade for Melo and go all out offense. Don't even know why the Knicks aren't wanting to get rid of Melo; that team should be rebuilding and stockpiling assets, expirings, and picks. Ty-Harden-Melo-Motiejunas-Capela
LMao we had a real coach in that Yao and Mac era to say the very least. meaning the team was fun to watch (22 win streak)
Yeah the regular seasons were (most of the time) awesome. That never translated to post season success. 22 win streak was crazy, but just got diminished by the Heat and Warriors. Our only year we did well was when our two franchise pieces were both out and Brooks, Scola, Landry, Battier, and Artest were leading the squad. Point being that the Harden-Howard was the closest we've gotten to winning a chip in a long time and most likely its over after this season.
Yup and we got to the 3rd round because some role players (Jones, Prigs....) and Josh Smith got some epiphany like performances against the Clippers when most people thought we should have exited in the 2nd round. Role players did play a big part in both eras IMO so Morey better get more efficient shooters.
just cuz he's not a star doesnt mean he's an average role player. he's still an elite center and a two way player. most teams dont have that. he has plenty of playoff experience which is a huge plus. with everything he brings, you can get a good all star caliber player. besides he is an all star statistically.
6 month rental plus a good chance to re-sign him if the team does well, which it should do a lot better than these sorry ass rockets are. or a huge expiring to sign free agents. an elite 2 way center with plenty of playoff experience IS AN ALL STAR CALIBER PLAYER!
Nope not a good chance at all. The lakers know it well and so does the rest of the league. Huge expirings dont matter much because mlst of the free agents suck. So no. Dwight wont bring you an all star caliber player back. The end.
