Now, JH just have to play some defense and he'll really be the best current SG. Jordan's still the gold standard. Ignore his last two seasons with the Wizards and his gap between the current SGs greater. That and consider MJs era and his top defense. I don't know if JH can close the gap but at least JH is a Rocket and the best SG as of right now. That's what matters most.
Harden and Kobe had extremely similar seasons last year in terms of production. The difference is Harden is 24 and just beginning his prime and Kobe is 35, has a ton of mileage, and is coming off of a devastating injury. I might take Kobe for a series if he comes back strong from the injury, but I think day in and day out, it's not a hard choice given Kobe's age and wear-and-tear. LeBron/Jordan -- In the history of the NBA, there are only 2 players who have posted 4 seasons of 30.0 PER or greater. There are also only two players in NBA history to win back-to-back MVP's and FMVP's in the same two years. LeBron and Jordan. (Russell likely would be on the list, also, but he was not eligible to win FMVP during his championship seasons). Also, LeBron is 3rd all-time in PPG. He is the next-closest perimeter player to Jordan in that category (Wilt is 2nd). If any player is going to be compared with Jordan, then it makes sense to me LeBron would be that player.
I live in OKC now. The fans are still in denial over that trade. They all say that that what people don't realize is that there was no way they could keep Harden because of the salary cap. I don't even bother mentioning the whose aspect of a Perkins amnesty any more. It's just hopeless really.
GMs Pick Harden not Kobe as Best Shooting Guard Lock if posted. http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/...rd-in-western-conference-in-gms-survey-102313 NBA GMs pick Harden, not Kobe, best SG James Harden may just want to sit out any meetings between the Rockets and Lakers after Kobe Bryant comes back. Through no fault of his own, Harden is probably now on Bryant’s hit list after NBA general managers chose the Rockets star as the best shooting guard in the NBA by a wide margin over the five-time champion. A massive 56.7 percent of GMs named Harden the best at his position, nearly three times the number of GMs who named Bryant, at 20 percent. Just another piece of bulletin board material for Bryant, who recently changed his Twitter avatar to 1225 after ESPN.com picked the Lakers to finish 12th in the West and ranked Bryant the 25th-best player in the NBA. Poor, poor Harden. We hardly knew ye. As a recent Sports Illustrated cover story illustrated, Bryant is wired to crush his competition — especially any competition that challenges his place in the sport. He strategizes ways he would escape from Saw traps, for crying out loud. He’s a lot like Michael Jordan — who, legend has it, punctuated every basket he scored against Suns forward Dan Majerle in a 1993 NBA Finals game by spitting, “Dan [bleeping] Majerle!” after Bulls GM Jerry Krause spoke admiringly of Majerle in an interview. Is Harden honestly a better player than Bryant right now? Probably. But that won’t matter to Bryant, who still has trouble admitting LeBron James and Kevin Durant have surpassed him in the hierarchy of the best players in the game and is coming off one of the finest seasons of his career. Count on Bryant dropping at least 40 points on the Rockets next time he is healthy. The Lakers might lose, but count on Bryant getting his. Harden may yet survive, if only because the Rockets play the Lakers three times before the end of February, when Bryant’s return is far from assured. The lone late-season matchup is April 8 in Los Angeles, when Bryant may be just barely getting his spring back. Whatever ends up happening to Harden, hopefully he understands it’s not personal between him and Bryant — although Harden may have a bone to pick with all those GMs when it’s all said and done.
Harden clearly. One game playing through in injury does not mean he is all of the sudden not the best SG in the league lol. He's the best and it's not close.
Naturally he's injured and has an off night and people overreact. It's not Clutchfans without overreaction over one game.
Y'all are knee-jerkin. A healthy Harden, yes, is the best SG in the NBA. I exaggerated when I said "by far" but it is very clear.
Yeah, but that's not saying much. I simply realized that defense was 50% of the game. As for NBA GM selections, it's just some interns filling out a piece of paper.
