Lou scored 50 and singlehandedly beat the warriors. Wish we could have kept him. He was huge for our series against the OKC last year.
Just figured out an interesting loophole strategy... Outside of 2 minutes, the clock rolls after a made basket, but the shot clock doesn't start until the ball is touched after the inbounds. If you just barely toss the ball so that it doesn't move forward, you can drain time until the opposition figures it out. Then you could gather your whole team around the ball in a circle and force the other team to foul you. Interesting strategy point that I haven't ever seen anyone mention as a means of draining the clock.
The shot clock doesn't start until the ball is touched, and you have 8 seconds from that point to get it across half court.
Here's an example for you, maybe you just skimmed my original post... Made basket with 2:30 remaining, the clock is running. Player waits for the opposing team to run all the way down the court and then initiates a soft inbound with as little movement on the ball as possible so that it basically sits close to the sideline. No other player touches the ball, so the clock keeps rolling, but the shot clock has not been initiated and sits at 24 seconds. The other team would be completely confused until they realize that the clock is running. Then you have the other 4 players gather around the ball like a campfire and the other team is forced to foul you or the clock will run out.
Only inside of 2 minutes (in the 4th Q and Overtime) does the game clock stop after a made basket... Outside of 2 minutes the game clock continues to run, while the shot clock starts only when the ball is touched in bounds. Just watch on Friday during the game, you'll see.
if true that is interesting. Never noticed that before. however I think the 8 second violations starts once a team inbounds the ball and is not dependant on a player touching it in the backcourt as I've recall refs counting down as Cp3 slowly follows the ball upcourt. http://www.nba.com/analysis/rules_10.html Section IX-Eight-Second Rule A team shall not be in continuous possession of a ball which is in its backcourt for more than 8 consecutive seconds. EXCEPTION (1): A new 8 seconds is awarded if the defense: (1) kicks or punches the ball, (2) is assessed a technical foul, or (3) is issued a delay of game warning. EXCEPTION (2): A new 8 seconds is awarded if play is suspended to administer Comments on the Rules-N-Infection Control. PENALTY: Loss of ball. The ball is awarded to the opposing team at the mid-court line.
I'm not sure how the refs interpret the rules, but it's pretty cut and dry to me: http://www.nba.com/analysis/rules_7.html Section II-Starting and Stopping of 24-Second Clock The 24-second clock will start when a team gains new possession of a ball which is in play. http://www.nba.com/analysis/rules_10.html Section IX-Eight-Second Rule A team shall not be in continuous possession of a ball which is in its backcourt for more than 8 consecutive seconds. The first rule listed states that the shot clock only starts when possession is gained. We know that the shot clock doesn't start until the ball is touched. The second rule states that in order for the 8 second rule to come into effect, the team cannot be "in continuous possession", thus by logical reasoning, the ball first has to be touched (possession gained) for the 8 second count to start. I'll pay close attention next time we roll the ball up the court to see when the ref starts his 8 count.
Sweet lou 50 and silent reaper 40 = 90 points between two players Most important of all win amazonian lose
I know Curry and Klay were out but Durant the Green and company were more than enough to beat this Clippers team. They led by as much as 9 late in Q3 and had the game in hand. Then they just stopped playing with any effort (not that they were trying all that hard to win the game to begin with). I know this didn't happen but it almost looked like they were trying to lose on purpose the way they played with the clearly no effort and energy. It was just weird to watch.
Lou!!!! We all know when he has the freedom to put that many shots he's going to give you great games, but no way he would've put up these numbers here and Tucker is more important to us. ESPN headline about Durant is just disrespectful, but since Gordon's dunk didn't make top 10, it makes sense that they're a bunch of agenda driven poopers.
